UConn going down always makes my night. I do envy having their shooters though, Ball, Mahaney and Diarra.
Not to go down this rabbit hole butRJ Davis would like a word
Guess you didn’t watch the game. Mahaney 4 for 7, Diarra 5 for 8 shooting 60% had a pretty good night. 50% from three as well, not too shabby.I would let Diarra and Mahaney shoot all game long.
You guessed wrong. I rather them shoot 3’s than Ball.Guess you didn’t watch the game. Mahaney 4 for 7, Diarra 5 for 8 shooting 60% had a pretty good night.

Small sample size. Still prefer them to shoot 3s rather than Ball. They shot 50% from three.
True even though Ball shot 3 for 11 from three. I’d take any one of them.Small sample size. Still prefer them to shoot 3s rather than Ball.
Diarra shoots 26% and Mahaney 34% from 3 this year. They are not in the same discussion with BallTrue even though Ball shot 3 for 11 from three. I’d take any one of them.
What is Ball’s percentage? Also, I like to look at a players percentage against Big East competition, not include the OOC much although in UConns case, they played some pretty tough opponents.Diarra shoots 26% and Mahaney 34% from 3 this year. They are not in the same discussion with Ball
Ball 45% from 3.What is Ball’s percentage? Also, I like to look at a players percentage against Big East competition, not include the OOC much although in UConns case, they played some pretty tough opponents.
For instance, Wilcher’s shooting was pretty good going into Big East play but now?? Guess he has not yet adjusted to the level of Big East competition?
This is correct - the X v. Creighton games are likely to decide which one makes it into the NCAA Tournament and where the league falls between 3 and 5 bids.Xavier split with Marquette and UConn, and were swept by us. They've still got 2 games with Creighton, which might determine whether they dance or not.
Late eligibility foreign shooter who McD thinks will really help Creighton down the stretch;
No change for UConn on NET, but X drops 2 spots. Go figure.Watched a little Big East ball yesterday…
While Georgetown is certainly improved this season (which is good for the league) there’s still a way to go. Can’t exactly call them a “dumpster fire” any longer but the sooner Mack & Epps accept that Peavy & Sorber are actually the stars the better that team will be.
Uconn is going to foul SJU a ton when they play. RJ might shoot 30 FTs Their fans were complaining about the refs last night in the Xavier game but the truth is this UConn team has trouble staying in front of guys and they grab and hold constantly. Hurley should be redirecting the energy he spends yelling at the refs to yelling at his own players to move their feet on defense. Obviously still dangerous because there’s talent (especially when McNeeley gets back) but they’re very beatable this season as teams are finding out.
Johnnies shouldn’t lose that next Providence game but it’s still going to be annoyingly tough.
Sweeping Xavier is going to pay off big time by the end of the season.
This is great analysis. I went back and watched some highlights of the game to look for this specifically and you are spot on, especially in regard to Johnson. It's baffling that they allow them to get away with this.Samson Johnson sets dozens of illegal screens every game. He breaks just about every principle possible...does not stay set, feet wider than shoulders, rotates his hips into the defender, raises his arms and hands into defender, pushes off and sometimes start to roll engaging defender along the way like a pulling OL in football. At least a half dozen times per game, it is blatant with multiple infractions and the refs just do not call it. He is even starting to do these things during on-ball screens which refs usually watch like hawks. (you always get away with more off the ball with less eyes watching)
I hope our staff points this out to the officials before the games when we play them.
If left unchanged, he is going to pick up a ton of fouls in the NCAA tournament quick when crews from the rest of the country do call it. It's not doing Uconn any favors in the long term. Danny's head will explode when it finally gets called as it should.
That’s great The guys who think there’s some sort of conspiracy against UConn are hilarious. If anyone is interested in a good laugh. Read this thread from the boneyard.
The Big East is not our Friend
We aren't perfect but neither are our opponents. The fact that we continue to be on the wrong side of the whistle in every game is absurd. Maybe it's because the refs are sending Hurley a message. Maybe it's because we're flirting with other conferences. Regardless, it's a joke. The sooner...the-boneyard.com
Or just do exactly what he says we do and pound the snot out of them, bully ball.Best punishment would be for us to hit 5 or 6 threes against PC to stuff that "all they do well is turn you over and hit the offensive boards" right where it belongs.
Totally agree. There are sensible posts in there and the big east thread they have also. That’s great The guys who think there’s some sort of conspiracy against UConn are hilarious.
I will say that while most are whining it’s nice to see there are a decent number of reasonable, fair minded UConn fans in there pointing out the fouling is coming from bad defense. As much as we like to paint entire fanbases with the same brush a bunch of them know ball and are starting to realize that this year’s team is the emperor with no clothes.
