I'm all for playing the locals as a tune up. Give me 3 or 4 games against the best of NY and NJ. But the NM game was never going to be a "key win" and Harvard and Bryant are just a waste. I can forgive Delaware because it's hard to schedule around Christmas/New Years. It would have been nice to get better Big 12 team, but you get what you get.SOS, not a problem.
SOS schedule ranks 10th in the conference. That's a problem.SOS, not a problem.
Maybe I'm missing it, but I don't see an SOS ranking on the page link..SOS schedule ranks 10th in the conference. That's a problem.

Marquette is dead last, then us, then yukon. The other 8 schools all have to play us twice, hence the stronger SOS for each..For St. John's, scroll across to next to last column.
That doesn’t make any sense. How would UConn have a bottom three SOS in the conference with the schedule they’ve played. Unless the metric is conference play SOS so farMarquette is dead last, then us, then yukon. The other 8 schools all have to play us twice, hence the stronger SOS for each..

Thanks.. I see it now. Had to open it up differently to see more columns. For St. John's, scroll across to next to last column.
It's for the entire schedule. Go through yukon's schedule for the entire season. They're ahead of us and Marquette. They obviously don't play themselves which is 2 less Quad 1 opportunities than the bottom 8 schools get. That doesn’t make any sense. It helps when you realize how they do their projections. Confused the shit out of me the first time. We're currently ranked 18th, one ahead of yukon. Main reason I ignore polls. They have no bearing on the tournament.T

I think that if you want to be a top echelon BE team you should have a schedule to support that. It’s difficult to climb into the top 25 if you play a minimal number of ranked teams. I know coach Pitino has such a goal and hopefully the new AD helps in getting the program there. That Torvik stat is conference SOS only.
Per KenPom, SJU has played the 7th toughest schedule to date among BE teams. 120th nationally.
We were one more game against a representative team from a power conference away from a strong schedule similar to that of Marquette and UCONN.I think that if you want to be a top echelon BE team you should have a schedule to support that. Yea really can’t think of worse timing, as we just had to scratch and claw our way to a road big East win. Going back down in competition just isn’t the energy we need right now and I hope we don’t make the mistake of looking past this game cause a loss would be devastatingI didn't have a problem with our OOC schedule this year. Baylor, Georgia, New Mexico, Virginia, Kansas State are all decent. In hindsight, the Delaware game seems unnecessary. Certainly the timing isn't great, as we want our team to be ramping up to higher competition at this point of the season. Replacing this game with a Q1 or Q2 game might have hit the sweet spot for this year.
