Shaka Smart took a team to the Final Four which only 1 coach at St. John's has done in the past 50 years. If Rick retires, I'd be ecstatic to have Shaka as his successor.

Shaka has decided to go with HS recruitment and continuity rather than restocking through portal every year. I admire him for that and hope they win except when they play us.

They certainly took Purdue to the woodshed. High energy, disciplined, and well coached, Marquette is going to be hard to beat this year.

There is really no "as usual" for Shaka Smart at Marquette he has only been 3 full years and he got knocked out in the first round, then the second round, then the sweet sixteen. Maybe just chalk them up for the elite 8 this year?

Lot of luck involved come March. Kolek got in quick foul trouble first half last year. Marquette was never the same that game after that.
