Around the Big East

I think AJ could have worked out here but it was more a question of Pitino being new. AJ could very well be a pretty high first round draft pick, so a decent NIL was probably warranted.
Yes he would have worked out, but unfortunately he didn’t. To my point no guarantees. We are fortunate Wilcher and Dunlap returned for a second season. Hope we can retain our 4 new freshman in 25-26.

Who needs freshmen when no one stays four years anyway? Just saying.

Not true, programs like Marquette prioritize player development (which is what I had hoped this staff would do) tend to keep their players. I think a good balance of great frosh and a few transfers to fill some spots would be better then mostly transfers which require starting from zero each year.

Apparently Marquette is the exception and not the rule, good for them. Shaka has the time, our HOF coach doesn’t. We are in a win now environment.

Shaka is trying a very different approach to most of the other top programs. I applaud him for it and hope he makes it work but totally get why Pitino is doing what he's doing. Also we have four promising frosh coming in this year so it's not like Rik is only signing transfers.

That may be true but which player that Rick recruited as a frosh may have as prominent role on this team this year, other than Wilcher with an outside chance of Brady? And do you really want to see an entire new back court each year as we have had in these first two classes? Hopefully some of next years holdovers, Wilcher, Lio and Glover are developed and assume more of a role on future teams.

Frankly as a 60 year Johnnie fan, I just want to win big again before I pass over into Johnnie purgatory; I'll leave it to our hall of fame coach how best to make my wish come true. Having said that, I fully expect our two sophs to see significant minutes and like our frosh class. Nothing but positive vibes for this year.

I would be interested to see how many high major teams brought in 4 incoming freshmen this class. Bet we’re way closer to top then we are the bottom.
Matter of fact we are going to see one of those teams in pre-season, though I struggle to call Rutgers "high major". They brought in 5 freshman and we will play there in a scrimmage in October.

Haven't seen

UConn down 30-0 to an unranked Maryland team. Think there's a solid chance a vote doesn't happen, especially after a full week of zero leaks. Guessing the initial leak was done by either UConn or Yormark in an attempt to drum up support.

Is there a person who has a better PR person for himself than Yormark ? That guy gets his name mentioned more than me at a lobster roll stand

Was this a buy game for Maryland? If not, good cost savings for the Terps. 😀

I am watching the game. It should be worse than 30-0. Just hope UCONN doesn't make the game look a little closer.

Not to dispute your conclusion here, but it actually seems like there was a meeting that happened with the presidents of the Big 12 schools, with Yormark leading a presentation, and UConn on hand. No official vote was taken, but it does seem more than an informality. No idea how this will all turn out.

Prediction: UConn will not get invited to the Big 12 before 2031. I also don't believe they will get invited after 2031. I think more likely the ACC loses teams via settlement with the two many agitators FSU and Clemson agreeing to a large exit fee. I think VT and Miami join them (perhaps later and cheaper than FSU and Clemson). However, since all those teams run declining college football programs, they will only be offered 1/2 shares in the SEC (FSU, Miami or Clemson) or Big 10 (VT) or full shares in the Big 12. The ACC will offer UConn an invite in this case.

And you know this is a good prediction because I've made countless bold predictions on this board... I mean, like over 20 and I have successfully nailed one of them!

Yep that's true (think was on Monday), I should've been more specific since we knew that meeting was planned last week when the initial leaks came out. Nothing significant from the meeting leaked, and if they had the votes already they could add them immediately. Based on the initial reporting I thought they'd add them this past week if they were going to at all.

Could mean nothing, maybe they'll add them this upcoming week, but the more time that goes by the less likely it is to happen. Good sign that they were totally blown out today.
