Around the Big East

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me

Should never have let them back in to begin with. I believe it was Ackerman’s desire to get UConns woman’s program back in the conference that was the driving force. The men’s program was nothing without the Big East and never a good member of the conference, always with one foot out the door.

Whatever their perceived benefit to the conference is, I’ll be glad if they bolt. Their fan base at the garden almost make the game unattendible.

If they are leaving, F Ackerman and conference administration and play them at Carnessecca this year. 😎👍

8 BIG EAST games have been booked for the Garden,

Interesting thing to realize is that Big East media deal expires 2031-2032. Big 12 media deal is in 2030-2031.

Can’t shake the feeling that Fox may wind up wanting to consolidate the best Big East basketball properties under the Big 12 umbrella. Yormark wants to negotiate the basketball and football deals separately, and is smart enough to know the value of MSG and NYC.

Easy to envision the college basketball world looking very different, but also old, where we’re in a large national conference but our division is UConn, Syracuse, Villanova and Georgetown.

Big east/MSG also expires in 2032.

Savor the pitino days fellas

UConn should be very careful here. Geno (retiring) & Hurley (pro soon with nothing left to prove) will be gone soon. Their basketball programs can easily slide into Cuse levels of mediocrity & maybe some top 15 type yrs at best. They’re going to play much tougher comp with other big public football schools. So going from having big advantage against BE private schools to being the little guy to most B12 schools. Their hoops very likely will take hit.

In football they stink. There’s no recruiting hotbed in tri-state or New England. CFB is not big here. It’s not the South. Would be like trying to make NASCAR happen in Manhattan. Not a cultural fit. Football can’t be any better really.

So they should think carefully. But you know they won’t. Then when in B12 they will try to get B10 somehow.

Quite frankly, all UConn cares about is the payout, and securing their future with so much uncertainty on the horizon. Can't blame them if that's what they choose to prioritize.

Just feel like we’re heading in the direction of A10 instead of getting actual major brands. We should start talking to B12 about taking top brands from BE for hoops only & lesser share. They get access to MSG & we can reunite with rest of old BE finally.
Hypothetical example of the day after if St John’s wins National Championship. 7am Tuesday. MZR guys this is depressing. I feel like we are heading to the Colonial Athletic. We just don’t have a chance. This is depressing.

200 members on the board. “ MZR you realize we just won a National Championship “

MZR “ yeah but that was last night. We are doomed now “
