Around the Big East

Maybe I would take the reply seriously if you bothered to tell me why! Please include where you feel the BE has ANY negotiating angles vis a vis the football conferences
You might be right vis a vis football but still Bball wise, nothing like it. Great Tournament, great recruiting still , great portal success so far. Fox negotiations should tell a story and i do agree need a better leader than Val

And ignoring completely that all of that existed and meant less than nada this time around come Selection Sunday, so what exactly is going to change?

Getting 3 instead of 5 is still better than being absorbed by a Power 5 in my opinion. New Fox contract might enable that and maybe find new revenue streams as well

I agree, I also don't mind holding firm at 11. I don't think we have to worry about being absorbed (or UConn leaving) at least in the short term. As of right now, we power 4 broadcast deals are tied to their football deal and no Big East teams would generate enough increased TV revenue to be attractive. Think of big names like Oregon and Washington (approx 30M) having to take substantially less to go to the big 10 and they are major football powers. Cal and Stanford have accepted1/3 ACC shares (approx 12M) and SMU is essentially paying the ACC for the privilege of being in their conference.

I think everything will be calm until the next round of TV deals or if FSU/Clemson win their lawsuit against the ACC things could get active again.

Also, I think the mountain west lost their status as a high bid league. We will take back from the mountain west. Also, the American and West Coast conference may go back to single bid leagues, we will gain ground there as well.

Fine, if that is your opinion but that position is not a negotiating angle, it is an acceptance that the Power 5 is completely calling the shots.

Dont disagree. Who’s better off right now, Pac 10 or Big East? Ill take Big East

I respect all the civil debate as to where we stand but we will know the result in 11 months when the next NCAA tournament field is selected. Hopefully we will have more than 3 teams dancing.
