Around the Big East

Seton Hall-Xavier is off Saturday because of COVID issues in Xavier’s program.

Seton Hall 78, Georgetown 67. Myles Cale with 30 points and Jared Rhoden with 26.

Jared Rhoden is another local player that we didn´t have any interest.

Yes, most of us detest UConn, Dan Hurley is loony a lot, may not be best x&o HC out there, but he made Wagner and Rhody relevant in short order, recruits his tail off and his teams buy into his intensity and defensive approach. It is clear with good resources, he will get very good kids regularly and have UConn contending for BE title regularly.

His record speaks for itself and if you eliminate his first year at last three jobs it is quite impressive. We'll see how he does in the Dance through the years, but he seems destined to be a good one. Record:

Hurley will also probably be there at least twice as long as Anderson will be here. There is something nice about not having to worry about a coaching search twice a decade.

Two points:

1) If we could have a do over from 2015 would you rather have Mullin or Hurley? Answer is obvious if for no other reason Hurley would still be coach here NOW and

2) I get the intense criticism.  But a couple of points on that-he has toned down considerably last few years.  And last time I checked most on this board were all in on his brother coming to SJU include MCN. Bobby is FAAAR more volatile and imho not as good a coach. So are these same people saying Bobby would've been OK but not Danny?  Explain that.

You won't get arguments from me on either point. I do wonder what our recruiting classes would look like here. Does he pull 4* Jersey kids here? Does Kimani join him here? I don't know how happy he was here the first time around, although we may have been paying him peanuts.

My position before they hired Mullin was "get me a Hurley, either one."  I preferred Danny to Bobby, but I would have been very happy with either.  Unfortunately the school had other ideas.  So I think we agree on this one.

I would have taken Danny Hurley here for sure.  Was a big proponent of hiring him.  I don't like his style very much in terms of demeanor and what not, but I think he will do very well at UConn and would for us.  I never said he wasn't good.  We should have looked his direction for sure.  I think he would have left SJU the first chance he got though. I don't think the Hurleys, including pops, ever really liked SJU.  Just a feeling in that.

I think issues stem from the unhappiness over the experiences of the two St. Anthony's kids who did come. Family had no issue with Lou.

And first time this year I've seen an offensive fould called on a pushoff, this time against Mahoney of Creighton.

And I'm convinced a crowd matters, no matter how small.

Agree.  This is why I was hoping we could have 1200-1500 fans in attendance.  I really felt the 1900 partisan played a role in the Creighton/Butler game.  Particularly, down the stretch.

Absolutely Dink! And towards the end the Butler players were encouraging the crowd and feeding off the crowd’s energy.

Agreed about fans in attendance.  At the bare minimum the family of each player should be able to sit in the stands and cheer.

Seton Hall vs Nova on FS1.  Tight game in 1st half.  Nova last played on 12/23, having 6 straight postponed games.

Nova is starting to take control right now (Up 9 on Seton Hall). Sandro the only one for hall that can score.
