Around the Big East

What makes every game a challenge is that our guys have to play their A or B game for forty minutes to win, while Creighton and Nova can play there B- or C game and get away with it by bringing their A game out with 5 minutes to go.

That would be Georgetown.  They just don't have enough weapons to compete in the league.  DePaul has plenty of talent (and they did last year).  Their problem is Leitao.  I still can't believe they actually extended him.  He's terrible.  But they definitely have enough talent to overcome his coaching and get themselves out of the cellar and potentially ahead of SJU. 

It's probably going to be a crazy year in the BE the same as it's been in most other college and professional sports during the pandemic.

He is thinking what several coaches think, don't foul.  We see it every season.  There is the school of thought  that you don't foul and let it play out and another school that says foul.

Rutgers is ranked 14th in this week’s AP Top 25. Iowa is 10th. With two wins this week, RU would be positioned to crack the top 10. A whopping 9 Big Ten teams are in the Top 25 right now. 

Seton Hall’s next foe, Xavier, checks in 26th. Villanova (4) and Creighton (11) are ranked.
 
If we have to go on pause for covid I want it on record that I coined the phrase menopause or redmenopause as related to basketball before the NY Post steals my term

Three Big East games on TV today.

PC & Butler at 5  on FS1
Xavier & Seton Hall at 7  on FS1
Depaul & UCONN at 9 on CBSSN
 
PC over Butler by 16 today. Butler started two freshmen guards again w their PG out injured 
 
Seton Hall looking impressive against Xavier, up by16 at the half.  I would put them with Nova and Crieghton for sure.  I am seeing Bryce Aiken for the first time......really good player.

Charlie Moore is really good.  But UConn is much better than SJU at this point.  I think Saturday will be a nail biter.

Creighton vs Providence at noon on Fox
Butler vs. Seton Hall at 4:30 on FS1
Marquette vs. Georgetown at 7:30 on CBSSN (match of two 1-3 teams in league play)

I am not a betting man, but I think Marquette giving just 4 1/2  to Georgetown seems like a good play.  Marquette needs this game badly and has a much better roster.
 
Mitch Ballock just hit a picture perfect catch and shoot buzzer beater from close to halfcourt. Creighton up 40-32 at the half.
