Around the Big East

DePaul has the new/nice arena, they need to take a shot on someone who has actually had success semi recently. They've been hiring "has beens" for my entire life

In that sense, Will Wade is the perfect hire, but I bet he holds out for something better

It's pretty sad, there is a local senior recruit who was being pursued by the highest of high majors over the last 2 years and his recruiting has come to a standstill (in my opinion largely due to) because of the portal. Teams are completely terrified of building with freshmen.
Could be why there has been radio silence on Qin Pang.

Unless they are allowed to collectively bargain and come up with that limit together.

Which would mean unions and them becoming employees of the schools. Both the NCAA and the schools are deathly afraid of either happening.

The fact that numerous university higher ups are openly talking about splitting revenues with players make this inevitable.
I am not sure there are numerous. There is at least one and possible a few more at Fat Cat State Universities but there are more at this point that will push back.

Just last week, the new Ohio State Athletic Director said this:
"He also implied he is open to revenue sharing and perhaps some form of collective bargaining with athletes.

“We need to chart a new course of financial agreement between the athlete and the constitution,” Bjork said. “We can call that whatever we want, but that’s where we’re going. We need to recreate that model, period. It’s past time to sit down with our athletes and understand what they want from this experience. Some may call that bargaining, negotiating. It’s called communicating, and it’s called coming up with the right plan.”

Bjork also suggested deconstructing the NCAA’s “antiquated” governance and divisional structures.

“At a minimum, there needs to be consolidation of the highest-resource programs around a new financial and governance model,” he said. “We either take action now or action will continue to be taken upon us.”

No one knows. I'd imagine it would be by Division and sport, but I don't know.
I can see basketball and football Unionizing but for the other sports I don't see how. Like what power do they have to negotiate? If they strike it only hurts the athletes' schools don't make money on those sports anyway.

Ohio State is one of those Fat Cat State Universities I mentioned in my follow up post directly below the one you quoted. It is also tied into the “deconstruction” of the NCAA which he is in favor of.

Chris Mack popped up in my head. If he's interested in coaching again, he would be an excellent choice.
Good call dk. I originally thought Wade but Mack might actually be a better choice. He’s won at a high level in this league already
