Around the Big East

Last year the Big East did pretty poorly in the scrimmages and that was somewhat of an indicator as the conference didn't do great OOC (losing record to the P5 for the first time - one or two ranked teams entering conference play), but the top half of the league dominated conference play which resulted in 5 ranked teams and a pretty good Selection Sunday.

Think we may see something similar this year, but with hopefully more of the top half teams doing better OOC (besides just UConn).
I was actually being sarcastic. I am not talking the exhibitions seriously, as I think the BE and Big 12 are 1 and 1A.

Hah I read it as sarcasm initially, though there were some questionable results for middle and lower tier Big East teams this weekend (us included). Could mean absolutely nothing but since I wasn't sold yet on our league's depth this year these results didn't change my mind.

If we end up with something similar to last year though with a very heavy top half (ourselves included) I'd be pretty happy with that. Often times depth hurts bids and seeding anyways since the top half can't separate themselves enough. If teams like Providence, Seton Hall, Butler, DePaul and Georgetown don't do well (as I suspect) the Big East could still have a great year.

I welcome back the most qualified person on the planet to break down the Big East and preview each team ahead of the start of the season on Monday.

John Fanta and I go through the Big East about 3-4 mins on each team, capping it off with about 15 minutes on St. John’s, Rick Pitino and what’s in store in Queens. After you listed to this, you’ll be an expert on the Big East and each team! I hope you enjoy.

Great podcast.
I hope you might consider a part 2 update of this subject with an in season review, just prior to the start of conference games.

Watching the BE Tip off poses the question why aren’t we on and playing tonight ?

Clingan looks like unstoppable against guys that don’t match his size . He also looks like he’s going to be a lousy foul shooter .

I’m sure RP will take note . Their other big , Samson Johnson shows quickness and will be Clingan’s relief . Clingan stamina still suspect . Run him up and down the Court a few times and he’s looking for a seat .

If it means we're not a part of "wraparound coverage," then I'm all for playing tomorrow.

100%. I understand Fox is trying to get fans to download their app (for full coverage), or get them invested in other Big East programs on FS1, but on opening night most fans would want to watch their own team exclusively and would probably get annoyed. Also on ESPN.com these games were previously listed as "Fox App" but now those channel fields are totally blank, which I'm sure isn't helping FS1's ratings. Probably ESPN trying to tank ratings before our next TV contract lol.

All games can be seen on Fox Sports App. All that’s needed is to login with your TV provider. The last two years we were relegated to whip around coverage, but I skipped that and watched our barn burners with Mississippi Valley and Merrimack in full on the app.

Yep I'm aware (I wrote that Fox is trying to get people to download their app for full coverage), but much like ESPN+ the Fox app is an inferior experience. It's not available on all platforms, in my use it's often been glitchy, and I'm sure viewership numbers are horrendous (like ESPN+). I'm just glad we're on TV tomorrow.
