Hopefully it's at least 1998 that we are waking up in.
I never felt that CMA contributed to making Posh a better player . And, recruiting Curbelo was poor decision in retrospect . It pushed Posh to the side as the SG of sorts , which wasn’t his strength .
If Pitino was Coach for 4 years , Posh would have improved his weaknesses . Making him a even more skilled PG . But , that’s a what if perspective I have .
Matta will get more out of Posh than CMA did and I know our fans will give Posh a Standing O when we play Butler . A deserving one .

In the NET era it isn't a problem for other Big East teams if DePaul is terrible- as long as Big East teams beat them. In the RPI era it would've hurt just playing them.
Still totally inexcusable for DePaul to be this bad for this long. Wonder if the Big East would ever consider booting them (like Temple).

We haven't really pulled our weight for the Conf the past 20 years... hopefully we are on trajectory to change that... we are in no position to throw stones lol
I'm not in favor of booting them (at least not now), just throwing it out there since it's happened before with Temple. I'm talking like 5-10 years from now if they're still this bad. Most likely the BE wouldn't consider it, but under 1K fans for opening night is horrendous. Assuming they don't make the Tournament this year then it'd be 20 years since they last made it. They haven't proven they are committed to basketball while all other BE teams have, and unlike St. John's they have given the conference literally nothing for two decades.

Temple football program was booted out of the old Big East and as bad as DePaul is, Temple’s football program was in worst shape and endanger of being disbanded.
I’m not suggesting the BE boot DePaul but , maybe their internal Administration requests a voluntary withdrawl ?
The Chicago market is a important one but , DePaul isn’t capturing it . How could they ?
If they have the $$$$ they could try and borrow a page from our hire of RP and bring in a real name , high profile Coach to get the ship righted .

They might not be capturing it but having a school in such a big market itself helps the Big East in terms of media rights (example is the Big 10 admitting Rutgers and thereby getting their network into the NY/NJ market) and and possibly recruiting wise for other Big East schools when recruiting Chicago area kids (you get the chance to play at least one game in your home area every year).

If I was DePaul I would go after a guy like Will Wade. Xavier hired Miller. Wade is still young so he can be there for a while. I know he has his issues but it’s the Wild West now anyway and it’s all on the level.
Somebody has to finish last. There have been plenty of years recently where we should be thankful for DePaul.
Interesting that Posh is there and Daniss isn't. Will be fun to revisit this at year end.
