Around the Big East

Before my time, can anyone shed some light, did Lou prioritize Lee Green over Adrian Autry at Tolentine or was Autry a losing battle to Boeheim?

Sealy, Green and Autry dominated at Tolentine figure they would’ve been an amazing trifecta again for us. Thanks.

Believe it was Sealy Autry and Brian Reese who went to N Carolina. Remember the 3 of them under one of the baskets at MSG rooting like crazy for St John’s. Sealy was committed and that gave me hope we would get all 3 unfortunately we only got one.

Reading that Reese had a decorated career at Carolina including the 93’ championship which he was a vital piece for. He’s now an assistant for his Carolina teammate King Rice at Monmouth.

Those Tolentine state title teams had to be a sight to see, understandable that we didn’t nab them all. Most importantly, Lou brought in the cream of the crop and arguably our best ever.

Maybe the same understanding can be brought to our situation with CTK (state favorite) this year? OSL, LUHI, Stepinac, Hayes win some, lose some. The staff has done a great job getting a good majority of our states best on this years roster.

Autry and Reese were two years behind Malik. Different cycle. as for autry, Buchanan and Cain were clogging PG for Sju for at least the next 2 seasons so the dome beckoned autry north where he started and starred from day 1 for the #7 team in the country. During autry's recruiting cycle sju was NIT level team in a relative rebuild. Better days were obviously ahead peaking in 1992 run but Louie could not compete with what Boeheim could offer red at the time and iirc did not seriously try to.
Edit - 1991 elite 8 run.

Only reason to redshirt anyone as a frosh is if you think they will be around for 5 years which is why I don't like the idea. If we have an injury to a big we could really use him.
I have to agree. These days a kid being around for 5 years is unlikely.

Kid needs to add about 70 pounds. That's a lot of eating and can't take the time away from Sizzler to play.

I think the chances of a guy who averaged 6.3 ppg as a senior being here five years is much better than people think.

And if someone gets injured, I suspect his ability to help right now is next to nothing. We'd be better off with Wusu playing center if Soriano, Nywie, or Stanley get injured.

In an emergency situation you can always take the redshirt off like what Lavin did with Balamou though that was far from an emergency situation.

I think this kid is so raw that if we need serious minutes of him this year then CMA won’t be here for Keira’s 2nd year here, let alone his 5th
