Around the Big East

Gillespie as a freshmen:
4 pts, 1 reb, 1 ast, 15 minutes

Guess when it’s a national championship team it’s easier to let freshmen be freshmen.

Gillespie is a Winner and Clutch . He’s proven that time and time again .  He took the Game from Creighton ‘s grasp in the last 2 minutes . Tough luck for the Jays who seemed a step slow and they shot terribly . They are going to be tough next season with their 3 Freshman and Kalkbrenner returning .

All the whining over officiating aside.

Here is the difference.  Gillespie nailed both 3s late. Hawkins and O'Connell both missed open 3s late and in the SJU game Champagnie missed open 3 late.

You have to make those. Because Nova will.

That is the difference.

Creighton was 0/13 from 3 in the first half, but they've suckered Nova into playing that type of game as well, so they only trail by 1.

Both Coaches stink. How can their teams come out flat for such a big game? Why no in game adjustments?

Hopefully some SJ fans understand that advice Mase, before anointing Storr and King as Earl Monroe and Clyde.

True Paultz but those guys couldn’t shoot from 3

17 points. 17 in the second half. 17 point come back to beat us. 17 years from now he’ll be novas coach and we’ll be 17-17 winning our 17th nit title.

Ummm.....okay.

Being sarcastic as that would have been said by many on this board if we shot so poorly.

And lucky for Villanova, this is his 5th year there.

Did they play the game without using the 30 second clock?  It reminded me of games played in the 1960's--oops maybe one should say the 50's to be more appropriate.  Boring, tedious, uninteresting.  The only ones who left the TV on Nova/Creighton fans.  everyone else was probably turning it off.  Can't wait to see TV ratings after some great numbers for early rounds.  Basketball is supposed to be a fluid game with athleticism; they set the game back years tonight.  We might not have the records like them, but I would not be a season ticketholder for many years of insomnia.

Nova is Lox.  (NYC folks will get the reference)

This could be the best defensive Nova team I've seen.  Not overly impressive on offense, although as always they have many options that can beat you on any given night.  But their defense is just stellar.  Wonder how that will play out in the NCAAs.  Think it may carry them a long way.

Villanova, Seton Hall, and Providence will be done by the end of next weekend.
