Syracuse NET is 111.  Monmouth's is 45.  At this point in time Monmouth is a much better win.  If Georgetown wins it only gives them a Q3 win.  Syracuse name sounds good and all, but as far as being a signature win, they are not that, at least not right now.  As far the committee is concerned they are the same as our Fordham win.

With that said I'm rooting for Georgetown, they are the only team in BE right now with a bad NET, any type of win outside a Q4 at this point is going to help them greatly.
Syracuse is a much better win then Monmouth.  Lets be serious.  I dont care what the NET says.

You do realize the tournament selection committee goes off of NET not the teams name right?  You may not care what NET says, but that's pretty much all the committee cares about.  I'll take wins over schools like Monmouth, Wyoming, Belmont, Iona, etc over schools like Syracuse, Georgetown, and Pitt because those games aren't helping your team get in the tournament this year.

But the NET today doesnt mean much because Monmouth is going to drop while syracuse is going to rise once conference play starts.  This Syracuse team is good.  They would beat Monmouth easily.

Monmouth is a really good team, they are not going to drop much.  Just like Colgate didn't drop much last year.  Team's stacked with 5th year seniors in mid-major conferences tend to always do well.  I'd be shocked if Monmouth drops out of the top 75 NET. Only team in the MAAC that will challenge them for the conference title is Iona.

Syracuse on the other hand lost by double figures to Colgate and VCU (both mid-major teams with losing records), so I'm not sure where you came up with the idea they would beat Monmouth easily.  Now I will agree that Syracuse will have opportunities to raise their NET just by being in the ACC, but it's not a given by any stretch that by end of season it'll be better than Monmouth's.  I don't see them winning many games in the ACC this year.

Great wins by gtown and creighton today.  Every team in the big east now has a signature win outside of st johns.

If you were ranking the BE teams today, I would not argue with anyone who has st johns dead last.

This gtown cuse game has been pretty good down the stretch.
Yep, was actually a pretty good game.  Aminu Mohammed is going to be REALLY good if he sticks around more than a year.

Creighton beats #24 BYU
Georgetown beats Syracuse
Both Creighton & G'town were picked to be in the lower half of the Big East
The Big East is going to be a dog fight, as usual, this season
Almost anybody can beat almost anybody on any given day
Gonna be another exciting league season!!!!

Only thing is Georgetown's NET.  Even with this win against Syracuse it's only a Q3 win, it'll get them out of the 200's but not going to move them as much as they need.  Maybe gets them into the low 180's at best.  If they can get to the 150's before conference play I think that would be a huge win for them and the conference.  Makes them to where they are at least Q3 road game, rather than a Q4 what they are now.

Georgetown-Cuse game was a great one. BE tournament intensity.

Can't believe that in the past few days I've rooted for Hoyas, Seton Hall, and even UConn, three teams I've always hated. But BE wins -- especially against Power 5 teams -- make strange for bedfellows.

Hoya frosh Mohammed is one helluva player.

Aminu Mohammed is a baller.

Every Big East team now has a win against a Power 5 conference, except /media/kunena/emoticons/sad.png/media/kunena/emoticons/sad.png

I’m ecstatic for the Big East and for all of our Big East brethren who are winning these big OOC games. It’s just a damn shame that we have to watch this while our team plays The Little Sisters of the Poor every game and struggle with them at that. We are the worst team in the conference as it stands right now. This is going to hurt recruiting and it also might hurt with regard to preventing kids from transferring out and in. Kids want to play in big games period. I think if we scheduled exceptionally tough and lost many of them it would still help recruiting because kids know they’re going to play in big games and get a chance to show themselves against the best competition. This is just sad.

That goes back to their season opener, when they lost to Dartmouth.

That's the only really bad loss that any conference team has suffered, so far.

The BE is so strong this year , if we take care of business in conference we will be fine. That said, conference play will not be easy. Hopefully we gel by the then.

I agree that the schedule should be tougher. However, don’t you think that you’re being a little melodramatic with the whole, “it will hurt recruiting “ angle? Seriously, do you think that recruits look through a prospective college choices’ out of conference schedule when deciding? I don’t buy it.

Simply put, if we take care of business, all will be well. It’s really that simple.

Wow, too bad we don't play in a top conference where it would be possible to pick up a signature win over the course of 20 league games, huh?

Agree Duke, but by same standard,  heading into BE play, we are a drag on the rest of the conf, especially with a weak OOC and no notable wins.
