Around the Big East 19/20

I root for SH but they have trouble closing these games out. They have a nice roster and Powell is great. But, the dropoff is big after him when it comes to crunch time.
The hall has Powell, some good bigs but a lot of guys who can’t score the ball well. Offense gets stagnant because there’s nobody else to take the shot. It’s too bad because Willard should have been able to reel in at least one more scorer because they’re a good team overall.
They are actually better playing from behind than with a lead. Guys who hit shots early on in game don’t hit them when pressure is on - outside of Powell.

Killer for them was Nelson - who twice got caught in corner on inbounds pass.
lAs a result they lost their last timeout with over two minutes remaining. The biggest blunder I thought was Rhoden reaching and fouling their best player putting him on the foul line and tying the game.

Providence led Long Beach State by 17, blew lead and lost 66-65. Friars in a funk.

Providence with a bad loss to Long Beach St., 66-65. Friars blew a 17 point second half lead. I know the game was in Anaheim, but that's a bad one. LBSU had only 1 D1 victory coming in. The Friars looked offensively challenged.

bad loss. thought they would be better this year

They'll round into shape when they play us. ;)

Davidson Marquette 1st half comically bad ball by all on the court, both teams and the refs. 26-22 with less than a minute left. Marquette with 5 field goals but 18-4 advantage in FT attempted and Davidson poor play have kept them in the game. Borderline unwatchable on all levels.

Yeah not necessarily. Mike Anderson team doesn’t get bullied so easily as some of our other teams that didn’t rebound etc. lots of parity in the Big East this year and suddenly our two losses to good teams doesn’t seem too bad at all.
Tough watching a good DePaul team blow an 11 point lead in two minutes to finish the first 1/2 up only 2.
Are they good?

A few good weeks doesn't erase decades of ineptitude IMO

You could say the same about us. DePaul has the pieces , let’s see if they can put them together. But, they’re not far off. Let’s see if they can win this games in a tough place to play on the road, The Barn in Minnesota

Not sure what us has to do with them. Nobody is anointing us as back either. We've seen NCAA's a lot more recently than they have as well.

So again lets see DePaul sustain this a wee bit longer.

DePaul and Butler were supposed to be our competition for last place, this year, but they're the only two unbeaten teams left in the league. 3 wins or less in the Big East is still very probable this year, and I say that being mostly satisfied with what I've seen from the team, so far.

DePaul up 10 at the under 8, but frankly, Minnesota looks like a broken basketball team right now, in all phases.

"We've seen NCAA's a lot more recently than they have as well."
That's all great, but those 3 appearances were all 1 and done.
Hopefully under cma we get to make noise when we get there again.
0 ncaa tounament wins since 2000 is sickening.

DePaul has exactly what we lack, a great point guard in Moore, and a quality legit big man in Reed (though he's more of a 4 then a 5). Moore with 21 points and 12 assists, Reed 11 points, 9 boards, 7 blocks. A duo that really seems to play well together.

I thought the Iowa game was a fluke, but it's looking less and less like that.

Up by 3, with 17.1 to go.
