Around the Big East 19/20
Big get for X! 2021 rankings...

Keep in mind that by October of this year 90%+ of 2021 4/5 star recruits will already be committed. I don't want to sound impatient, but I haven't heard any positive momentum with any 2021 recruits and time is running out. We have fallen way behind the rest of the Big East during this 3 year stretch.

I know numbers aren't everything, but does anyone expect us to land a top recruit this class? Is there any reason for optimism?
To the best of my knowledge none of our top targets have really even made a final list let alone committed anywhere. I'm still optimistic that we will land a good class

Pleased Mike Anderson is our HC & appreciate the work ethic and family culture he has built in short order. That said, Hurley, a wired and obnoxious type, is a 24/7 recruiter. He and Kimani are a formidable duo in that regard. Mike and staff imo must meet this challenge going head to head with UConn for many targets going forward.

To truly contend in Big East, attracting talent and player development are keys. This staff can do the latter for sure and over the next few recruiting cycles imo must impress on the former. “Go get em” staff!
I was very much against allowing Yukon back in the BE. We really didn’t need to afford them of exposure and enhance their recruiting efforts.

According to ESPN's recruiting page, 32 of the top 100 2021 recruits have committed to a school. Nova & Depaul each have two of them, no other BE schools have commits from this list.

There were many of us against UConns return to the Big East but we had zero say in that decision. But what Paultzman was correctly pointing out is that Hurley andYoung are a serious force to be reconnues with on the recruiting front and we currently are and will be goi g head to head with them on many a target in the future. CMA has taken us out of the cellar and we saw some nice player development last season. However if we are ever to approach the top 4 in the conference we must start winning a battle or two for a four or five star player.
Cant just rely on coaching up 3 star players and jucos.
Hopefully CMA and another staff member can attain a reputation on the recruiting trail like Hurley and Young have.

We finally have a coaching staff that are all actively involved in recruiting and are known to be solid recruiters. I have a lot more confidence in this staff's ability to bring in talent than any staff we have had in recent years

I was not criticizing CMA and staff, nor Paultzman. I just had to bitch about Yukon to someone other than my wife.

Yukon’s (re)admission to the Big East had more to do with dollars and cents than basketball logic. Another strong program increases the leagues value when the current TV contracts are renegotiated..

Uconn isn’t our problem. SJU needs to recruit for ourselves. Still wish Mike Anderson picked up one more heavy hitter as a recruiting assistant but we have a good staff overall. We really do need to step it up recruiting-wise though and this is the year we have to start. Time to land some big fish and get SJU the talent level where Mike Anderson can really show what his coaching can do and I have zero concern about the coaching.

Dayton is a strong basketball program, why not them?

Simple, one word Xavier.

Yukon has greater TV appeal than UDayton.

The (new) Big East started on July 1, 2013. If I recall correctly the Fox Sports contract was for 10 years which means that the contract is up for renegotiation soon. I am told that the Big East media consultants believed that Yukon would add value in renegotiations.

Uconn was a good choice at this time. Their football program is dead. So dead they are cutting other sports because they still think bailing out the football ship with a solo cup is gonna work. They do have basketball appeal though and it’s good for our league. Dayton has no gravitas. We need teams that draw.

If our 5 man class is considered the 78th best in the country then my problem Isn’t with CMA’s recruiting, it’s with the recruiting class rankings.

I really am not worried about this staff getting the players it needs.

Dayton who? This season notwithstanding Dayton is a non-event especially in terms of media and $$$. Nice little program.

It is because they did not include the jucos which may very well be the best two players in the class next season.
We can all be comfortable knowing that the 5 man class plus McGriff is much much better than 78th and also fills the needs we have.
G d willing the staff will bring in another good class with a greater emphasis on high school players.

Uconn-New England's team.

I understand none of us like UConn, hell even our own Room112 went there I believe and he doesn’t even like UConn!

With that said, there’s no denying that getting them was a good business move. For TV deals and the eventual renegotiating of the MSG deal. I know Big East re-upped with MSG a couple years ago, but time flies
