Around the Big East 18/19

Ewing doing a nice job at Georgetown. McClung a real nice find as he was a 3*. They have at least 3 other players who already contribute and have a lot of upside. They have been in every game, and like us with Seton Hall, must be upset about blowing that 4 point lead to us at home. Next season, they have to replace Govan. Not sure if they have someone in mind.
Just got a commitment from four star big. To me, if GT finishes reasonably well, Ewing could be the BE COY or at least garner a lot of votes. He has done a very good job & starts three freshmen.
It will be interesting to see how they finish the year in the Big East, they have a tough schedule. Still have to travel to Marquette, Seton Hall and Creighton. They also have Seton Hall and Villanova at home.

Aside from beating us at the Garden, they really don't have any significant wins this year based on NET and RPI. Also their SOS is once again worse than ours.

They just signed a highly thought of four star big out of HS (beat out Syracuse) plus they have the NC State transfer Yurtseven (averaged 14 and 7 for the Wolfpack last year). They will be in good shape up front as Leblanc also will be back.
Totally forgot about the kid Yurtseven. Yeah that is big time. Rememebr they have 3 freshmen LeBlanc, Akinjo and McClung playing major roles already. They obviously lose Govan and Kaleb Johnson but he is going to have a real nice roster next year.

Yes, they are tied with us at 5-5. However, Providence and Xavier are tied for last at 3-7, and Georgetown is done with both of those teams, as opposed to ourselves, who still have 4 games left with them (I keep thinking Providence is going to get better, but they have to start winning at some point - hopefully, they won't).
Nova may be even better next year. If Howard and Hauser stay, Marquette a force again. Georgetown may join them at the top of the conference. Puts more urgency on our need to dance this season.
Howard said he always planned to be a 4 year player and has no intention of leaving early.

I hope Howard and the Hausers stay. We need Marquette to stay good for the conference profile. We don't want to be seen as Villanova only IMO. I think it's important that we re-assert ourselves this year and in the near future as clearly ahead of PC and Seton Hall. Not too long ago, these were both expected W's along with DePaul. We need to get back to that. This is a talented but young PC team...as someone else said, it would be the most SJ thing ever to beat Creighton and #10 Marquette on the road only to lose at home to PC but let's hope that does not happen. Also looking forward to revenge on Butler. Tucker had the game of his life against us but has completely come back down to earth since. We made him look amazing, he's not actually that amazing. Also want Nova to get big and fat on wins so they can be top 10 when we play them at home. This is the home stretch, I hope we can win most games at home.

Georgetown also has the Sophomore Jamorko Pickett starting and he has been playing very well of late. Akinjo, McClung, Pickett, LeBlanc and Yurtseven are a very good starting five next season.

To this point, I had not seen Howard or the Housers listed in any mock drafts. I think St John's is the only school where players leave for the draft when it's clear they won't get picked.

I'm actually surprised Wojo hasn't left yet. Figured he'd bounce to the ACC at some point.

At this point, he’s probably hoping to be Coach K’s successor. Can’t really switch coaching jobs in conference.

In case anyone misses Fun, I might as well say it: "Wojo to Duke? That floor slapping dope will fit right in."

There will be a lot of competition to replace Coach K whenever that happens.

Marquette will certainly be a top 10 team next year if everyone returns. I was just looking at their roster and realize they could potentially lose only Heldt and Chartouny. They will be flat out dominant on offense with there projected roster. Big East should be very interesting next season.

Yeah, he wants to be owned by Simon at least twice more.:)

You absolutely can when it comes to Duke. There are at least two guys already in conference who will warrant at least a phone call.

I believe he'll (Wahab) need some time, but a solid piece going forward. I think Yurtseven should easily replace Govan. If they keep their roster in tact, and no of value transfers then they could be a top 3 or 4 team next season in the conference.

To others speaking of Ponds and Heron leaving after this season.... I would hope they stay, as I doubt either are NBA draftees. Come back in hopes of potentially to raise their profile. If they leave, then I'll wish 'em the best to their basketball endeavors. But I personally hope they return. Good luck in whatever they decide to do!

Ponds has been listed as a second round pick in every mock draft this year FYI
