Around the Big East 18/19

On one hand you say it doesn't matter where he goes and then you blast him for going elsewhere. FWIW Alkins has a two way contract with the Bulls and played in a couple games this year and he, and Brandon Sampson, are on their 15 man roster (also a two way I believe). Likely both with end up in Europe eventually but right now they're trying to fulfill their dream. They're making $80K plus up to $50K for training camp plus $4,700 per day they are on the roster, which obviously both of them have done for at least a few days, they're 21-23 years old and all they've ever wanted was to play basketball so . . .

One thing I'll say is that guys who aren't good enough for the NBA rarely get to play in the NBA, no matter where they went to school and projecting NBA potential for HSers outside the top 10-20 is ridiculous most of the time. Also it's hard to know who has a contract in the NBA if you don't watch any games (I don't) and you don't know how to use Google to fact check your posts (I do). If you feel Alkins or Sampson would have better NBA prospects if they'd attended St Johns, especially after your post where you came to the realization that it's hard to get into the NBA, then you're dreaming.

I know it's frustrating when we foul on 3 point shots. However, the time we started doing that again, corresponded with us defending the 3 better. We need to cut down on it, but it may be something we just have to live with, with this team.

We've also allowed the most attempts, which needs to be cut down (though part of that was the two Creighton games - they don't seem to shoot anything but 3's). Would like to see our opponents take more tough twos, but with our lack of height, that might not be possible.

Of all you mentioned, I'd be happiest with less fouling of 3 point shooters. It seems that most of them happen when the opponent has a fairly open shot and our defender makes a mad lunge to try and block the shot and gets called for the foul.

Agree & it seems Marv, who we need on floor, was a culprit a number of times if I recall correctly.

We have had multiple offenders in this regard, most recently Keita and Williams. Although Keita didn't foul the shooter he was so determined to do so that he ran over the screener in his eagerness to get at the shooter.:) ;)
I'm thinking of visiting my daughter in NYC during the BE tournament and buying 1 ticket to the Thursday afternoon session and 3 to the Thursday evening session. Has anyone bought tickets through SeatGeek? Looks like a fairly reputable site with decent reviews but I've never used them (or any of the reseller sites). Thanks in advance for any input.
I used Seat Geek last week for my tickets at Duke. No problems and the best deal I could find. Use promo code HERD and save yourself 20 bucks. You can use it to buy MJMaher a beer.

It’s weird how similar these rankings are to the current standings in the league. Maybe there’s a correlation between the two

Butler up by 4 @ Georgetown. 7.8 seconds left, Georgetown has the ball.
Makes today even more frustrating gtown loses at home to Butler we could have gone over 500 and taken over third!
It's a three way tie right now, and the Creighton/Seton Hall winner will make it a four way tie. If Depaul beats Xavier tonight, it's a five way tie.

I figure we lose all of these tiebreakes, because our record in the mini-conference those teams would form is not good. Beating Marquette twice actually hurts us, in that scenario.

It would help if Creighton wins tonight, obviously. Since it's going to be a four way tie anyway that game ends, we might as well have them lumped in with us. It would help us WRT tiebreakers.

The garden is not a home court advantage for us. It basically makes it a neutral game. It will stay that way until we get really good. We need a 7000 seat home court arena.

Marquette wins by one.

40 years of Big East Basketball, and no team has ever finished the conference slate undefeated.

Honestly don't understand how results of those two teams against each other effects us. We play them both twice so aren't wins and losses vs both those teams on our part equally affected? I would think it would only matter if we end up playing one of them 3 times and then it would benefit us if it was against the team with greater success which at this point is unknown.
