Around the Big East 18/19
Tuesday, January 15th:

6:30 PM - Seton Hall at Providence - FS1
8:30 PM - Marquette at Georgetown - FS1
Should be two good games. Providence obviously is desperate for a win, still seeking their first in Big East play.

Georgetown is no pushover this year and should be tough at home vs Marquette.

Providence's next 8 games, after tonight:

@Marquette
@Xavier
Depaul
@Seton Hall
@Depaul
Georgetown
@St. John's
@Villanova

That's a lot of travel, and could really wear a team down. If you think tomorrow is a must win for us (and you may be right about that), tonight is a must win X 1000 for the Friars.

Nice win for Providence over Seton Hall. Powell looked like he ran out of gas towards the end of the game....where have we seen that happen before :)

This is going down to the wire. Georgetown up 8 51-43, Marquette goes on a 17-2 run to go up 7 60-53, Georgetown has followed with a 7-0 run to tie it at 60-60.

Marquette wins without their best player against G'Town...AT G'Town. Why can't we beat DePaul at home without Ponds? Also don't forget Mizzou making tourney without Michael Porter last year. Coaching folks.

Proving you can win without your star guard, Marquette beats Georgetown 74 to 71 without Markus Howard. Sam Hauser steps up and scores a career high 31 in Howard's absence.

Marquette with a gutty win with no Markus Howard. Two freshmen on the floor in the closing seconds Joey Hauser and also Brendan Bailey with the good defense on Akinjo.

Marquette goes legitimately 9-10 deep and that is the key. They had no issue using someone like Bailey big minutes tonight. He was a legit top 100 freshman. And Joey had a nice game and of course his brother was huge. Theo John was big tonight on the block.

They also had no Ed Morrow tonight. Two key players.

Maybe coaching, but simply put Marquette has more good players. They legitimately go deeper. Keep in mind they did not have Ed Morrow tonight as well.

I haven’t been able to find the minute distributions, but only 5 guys scored for Marquette. And Howard wasn’t one of them.

Been a lot of doom and gloom here lately and for good reason, but look at the bright side, we beat marquette by 20 and they haven’t lost since. Hopefully they go 16-2 in conference and we beat them twice

Boy, Georgetown has been in an awful lot of close games in BE season. Good learning experience for their two freshman guards who are going to be excellent players for them for a while.
