Around the Big East 18/19
Notre damn had a player maybe 10-15 years ago, a white shooter that I can’t remmeber which one. Got so many 3pt foul calls it was insane. I think his name was Falls? Which was pretty ironic if I’m remembering correctly.
Yep! I know exactly who you're referencing.... Colin Falls. I do recall him doing it, too.

Seems to me this wil be the year of the ‘road-curse’ fo most teams in the BEC.
Least I hope so, through today’s Hall @ Marquette game!

Agree with Dinkins at the end of regulation. Stay solidly between your man and the basket and as soon as the player, in this instance McClung puts the ball on the floor, foul as it bounces back up from the floor.
Here’s my thing and I’m not saying you’re wrong. My view is this. You’re up 3 with under five second left. You don’t foul and the worst case is you lose in overtime. You do foul and the worst case is you lose in regulation.
I think the moment the ballhandler dribbles East-West you go for the foul

If your plan is to foul then I agree with you. But if you send a team to the FT line with say 3 seconds left down 3, there’s still a few ways you can lose that game.

Hall up by 1 in 2nd half, 7:40 to play, after being down by 10 at end of 1st Half.
Damn.
But kudos to Willard. Good coach.

This Marquette - Hall game going down to the wire.
Marquette up by 1, home-court call, 1:30 left.
PS, looks like Powell is outplaying Howard.

Seton hall is really impressive. I wanted them to lose this game but you kinda get swept up in the way they play and can’t help but pull for them. They just play hard and they play smart. Also this Theo John guy is my new most hated player in the conference so I wanna see him lose

I guess you are referring to a possible 4 point play which is why I said you wait until the player dribbles to foul; you can’t shoot while you’re dribbling so no possibility of a 4 point play. I agree to foul or not is no easy call though.

A four point play, 3 foul shots, or even just 2 free throws like we just saw at end of SH/Marquette game. Marquette chose to foul (did it great, 3 seconds left with McKnight’s back to the hoop and inside the 3 point arc), McKnight hits the first and then anything can happen on the 2nd missed free throw. A tip in for 2, a tip out for 3, a foul? Of course the chances any of those happening may be slim but so are the chances of Mclung banging in a 40 footer which still only forced game into OT and doesn’t alone beat you. Again I don’t think there is 100% one righ or wrong way and each is situation is different but I don’t agree with the blanket statement of foul up 3.

All I’m worried about is us this season. One game at a time and keep winning. The more we win early in the season, the better shape we are later in the season. Let’s get it done!

I o agree there is no clear cut approach. I favor fouling more times than not but your point of case by case is valid for sure.

Nova just went on a 10-0 run to take the lead over Creighton 48-47. Still lots of time left. Even in a down year, Nova is a beautiful team to watch. Play so together. Paschall & Booth both playing well again.

Experience, maturity, sharing ball and always defending.

Is it too early to condemn us to be a non-factor in the Conference?
Think so and hope so, but it hinges on Ponds being healthy.

How is Ponds gonna handle the NBA when he can't handle the B.E.?

Shamorie wants to be in the first round with guaranteed money, and he only gets there by performing well this year and exposure via a winning season. The kid plays his guts out and he'll play if he can unless there is a clear majority view that another game or so will prove more beneficial later in the year.
