I wish. I would opt for a grad-transfer PG or combo. SH seems to find them at will. JUCOs should not be a route we use too often even with the recent success.

I think Williams can handle PG down the line. I am actually quite shocked, but his basketball IQ makes me believe he can handle it and continue to grow. I don't think next year is the year to roll the dice on that though.

It should be easy to find a grad transfer with the talent to fill in for 7-10 minutes a game. The problem is if we hand Mack the keys, do those kids want to come? Going to have to find a kid who is OK with being a career backup and wants to see NYC. Or do we declare open competition and risk upsetting Mack?

Why upset things? By all accounts, the Staff seems invested in Mack as our starting PG next season.
I wonder if Eli Wright can handle PG as a backup?

No, he is a wing. Better chance of Williams learning to play some point imo.

Here’s hoping any ’extra’ 2019 rides are reserved for Precious.

who knows if we land him, but wasn't there rumor that Andre Curbelo could reclassify and move up a year ?

We are in a position to add players who want to compete instead of guys that just want time. If SH can add a grad transfer PG last year with Powell and Carrington already starring, there is no reason we can't.

There is a very good chance the team next year could actually be better if Heron stays. (Heron-LJ-Simon-Williams + more size returning). You cannot put yourself one injury away from sub-.500

I do think the plan is to move Williams to a combo role, but I don't think next year is the time to rely completely on an unproven first year JUCO transfer and a soph SG to combo transition.

If you asked me 4 months ago if Williams could play point I would have laughed, but he's impressed me so much with how fast he's learned and with his decision-making.

Doubt the Staff looks for a backup PG with open ships on the rare side and hopes (dreams) of maybe landing Precious.
I’m guessing Williams will get OJT as the backup PG, or use Simon there when needed.

Rothstein
Villanova freshman Cole Swider is out indefinitely after suffering a fractured hand, per release.

If they have an open ship come April (which as we all know often happens), they can always land a grad transfer PG as a backup as I believe Marillac has already suggested. We can worry about that then.

Only one other Big East game on Saturday, and it will interesting to see what kind of crowd they get. It's also the first return matchup of the year in Big East play.

8:00 PM - Depaul at Seton Hall - FS1

Didn’t realize I was posting about this game in the non big east thread... either way, hoping DePaul finishes this

DePaul is gonna win and sweep seton hall. This throws a massive wrench in Seton Hall’s postseason plans. Wow.

This Femi dude is legit. DePaul will be an interesting team to watch. Talent is there to maybe make a little run in the BET

Nice win for DePaul . 97-93 over the Hall. With their fertile recruiting ground, DePaul should be a team to contend with now, and going forward.

Would have been a perfect banger for this team either as a starter or off the bench. The fact that a kid from LI with an opportunity to go home but instead decided to play in the same conference for a program considered a perennial cellar dweller drives me nuts.

Last 3 games, 22/10 tonight, 23/5 against Butler and 27/8 against SJU. And as an added plus he was 10-10 from the FT line. Damn...
