Around the Big East 18/19

After Auburn reached a 12 point lead, they seemed to get too casual and made successive turnovers to let X get back in the game...down 5. If Auburn was a bit more disciplined they would be up at least 10 and if they shot decently in the first 1/4 they would be up 20.Every game has its dynamic...I hope Xavier can stay within striking distance and pull off a nice upset.

Xavier just can’t get that one big stop when they need to and then Auburn make a little run. Xavier comes back to one possession and can’t get that stop. That’s been the whole game

Man, Xavier always plays tough. Not vintage X team, but some things remain the same

OT now, great showing by X against the #8 team in the country. Even though Auburn is playing without Purifoy.

Great game! Xavier has gotten 2 of Auburns guys out on fouls, let's get that BE upset win here.

Auburn thought they could get that 10 point lead back anytime they wanted...they kept giving it up and reclaiming it.
But that 2nd half X played much more intensively.
Niw pull it out!

The Duke game is being televised before our game tonight. It has not even started yet (supposed to start @ 5). For those of us watching our game on TV tonight I suspect we will miss a good part of the first half. ESPN will certainly not cut away from Duke to show our game!

They could start it in ESPN News and then switch it over.

Duke is a nice and talented young team. Far from invincible like some made them seem early in the season.

The same Big East teams that played on Monday, will also play on Tuesday.

2:30 PM - Xavier vs. San Diego State, Maui Invitational - ESPN2
7:30 PM - Creighton vs. Georgia State, from Grand Cayman Island - watchstadium.com/live

Gtown vs Illinois was a great game start to finish. Georgetown much improved and deep. They can easily finish in top 5 of BE if they can control turnovers. Very exciting freshman back court and 3 or 4 good Big's. Will be no easy game for us.
Illinois as said earlier is picked near bottom of B10 and was missing a key starter Trent Frazier. Alll road wins are good but the BE is going to be weak this year.
BTW Trent Frazier scored 29 against Gonzaga last night in Maui and Illinois lost 84-78. Again I am not suggesting Illinois is a world beater either way since they were picked 13th in B10 out of 14 (Rutgers picked below them) but I am pretty certain they would have beaten Georgetown last week if they had Frazier.

FINAL: San Diego State 79, Xavier 74. The Musketeers (2-3) have lost three straight games - two in Maui - and today they squandered a 19-point lead against the Aztecs.
