Around the Big East 18/19
Could come down to our game to win the challenge. Talk about pressure, whew!
It's been a 4-4 tie each of the 3 years they've had this challenge. So, our best hope for victory might be for the Big Ten to be up 4-3 after 7 games.

A Monday night Big East doubleheader (because anything's better than watching Giants-49ers):

6:30 PM - Detroit Mercy at Butler - FS1
8:30 PM - Morgan State at Depaul - FS1
Giants is better than that slate.
I'd rather read a book
The Giants/49ers game turned out to be a very entertaining game.

Xavier goes down to Wisconsin at home... 77-68.

Providence just gets by Holy Cross 71-60...it was a close game most of the way.

Watching G'Town v. Illinois and our old friend Adonis DeLaRosa makes an appearance! Didn't do anything though, just in for a minute or so. G'Town can be punishing when they get going. Slow start but picking it up. Illinois plays small and fast and gang rebound. Lots of backdoor cuts working for them. Have we done any backdoors?

Think the back doors may have ended when Rico left.

What a huge shot and one by Akino. What a game.

Really good. Akinjo is awesome as a freshman. McLung also better than I thought he’d be. Odd thing to me is that it seems that Georgetown doesn’t always know how
to utilize Govan. I find it strange for a Ewing-coaches team. Govan could be so dominant inside he’d be nearly impossible to stop.

Final score (Gtown 88, Illini 80) does not reflect how good this game was. An up and down fast paced game with multiple lead changes. Gtown has a 1 point lead when Akino hit the pull up one handerin that lane and drawing a foul (and making the free throw) with 40 seconds to go.

Yeah Govan was not a factor on offense but came up big on defense the last few minutes with his hedging slowing guys down, contesting shots and I think he got a least one of the two blocks with about 25 seconds to go.

Gtown vs Illinois was a great game start to finish. Georgetown much improved and deep. They can easily finish in top 5 of BE if they can control turnovers. Very exciting freshman back court and 3 or 4 good Big's. Will be no easy game for us.

The Hoyas could potentially finish in the top 5 of the Big East. But the Illini was predicted to finish second to last in the Big 10 (ahead of Rutgers). A good road win, nonetheless.

There fans created a fantastic atmosphere for the home team. Yes a gfood road win and learning experience for Gton’s freshman.

Like Ewing’s enthusiasm. Hard however to sustain winning in BE with a freshmen backcourt. That said, Patrick and a solid staff seems to be putting pieces together to get program back to a very consistent level in coming years. His years watching and learning as an NBA assistant coach seems to have prepared him well.

Adonis is being brought along slowly after having knee surgery earlier this year. He was injured in a game against Buffalo. He should be ready to play decent minutes during the second half of the season.

So,did not see the Georgetown game but from what posters are saying they seem good, Question to those that saw the game are they better than us ,they have a bigger team, can we beat this team???

As with a lot of teams, I don't think we can compete with them on the inside. It will come down to whether or not we hit enough shots.

we will have to go after their freshman backcourt and turn them over, that is their weakness. If we let Gtown turn it into a half court game their bigs will punish us. The two freshman guards are talented, but will turn it over and McLung is not a good shooter at this point. Still, they are improved over last year and have a pretty good bench.

Mclung can't shoot well, but if he gets in the paint, watch out. We should be able to force him into lots of TO's because he is prone to them thus far, however he can really finish at the rim above and below. Georgetown has a lot of size and strength. They're the type of team that has a chance to beat anyone in the conference when they are on all cylinders IMO including us. We are weak inside and they will dominate us there. As someone else said, it depends if our shots are falling. G'Town is definitely better than last year, because now they have some legit guards to mix with bigs.
