Around the Big East 18/19

Army has been within 10 points of the Dukies the whole game and as low as 2 a few times, lets not hand them a national championship just yet!

Watching the Creighton game. Looks like they are really going to struggle scoring this year. Down 8 to East Tennessee State at home with under 8 minutes to play.

Just coach K undercoaching against alma mater.

East Tennessee State not a bad team, well coached. Creighton takes lead with 3 minutes to go.

Steve Forbes, the ETSU Coach, is a good one, very good Juco coach prior to this gig. Enjoyed this game

A Monday night Big East doubleheader (because anything's better than watching Giants-49ers):

6:30 PM - Detroit Mercy at Butler - FS1
8:30 PM - Morgan State at Depaul - FS1

Perhaps fun game to watch tomorrow:

#170 Bowling Green @ #126 VCU - 7PM - ESPN+

Last year SJU played 4 teams OOC that finished with RPIs from 100-200 (Iona, Oregon St, St. Joe's, Grand Canyon).

If you remember, NONE of those games were easy.

Iona- tied game at half, we led by only 7 with 5 min to go. We won by 10.
Oregon St- we trailed by 10 midway through 2nd half. We won by 5.
St. Joe's- we trailed by 8 midway through 2nd half. We won by 4.
Grand Canyon- we led by only single digits for nearly the entire 2nd half. We won by 8.

Bowling Green- we trailed by 11 early in the 2nd half. We won by 4.

Looks familiar, no? We actually performed at exactly the same level against similar competition last year. Also consider that we played 2 Big East opponents with RPIs from 100-200 (DePaul and Georgetown). I'm still trying to forget those 3 losses (and even the 1 point win @ DePaul). Seeing our performance vs 100-200 level teams last year really puts Friday's win into perspective.

Would be great if Bowling Green could find a way to win tomorrow. :)

Also went down with the Pearl ship at Tennessee, and was with Gregg Marshall for a couple seasons. He'll probably be a hot target after this season or the next.

Per Chris McManus
New AP poll is fresh off the press.

Villanova up one spot to 8th. Marquette joins the top-25 at No. 24.

Nebraska comes in at No. 28 after beating their first two opponents by an average of 60.5 points and holding them to just 36 ppg.

Butler w/ four votes, St. John's w/ two.

Tonight begins a near two week stretch featuring a lot of intense games. Not until conference season will we likely see as many good ones as we are about to get. It begins with tonight's Gavitt Tipoff Games doubleheader:

6:30 PM - Wisconsin at Xavier - FS1
8:30 PM - Georgetown at Illinois - FS1

Also, there is one other game involving a Big East Team tonight:

7:00 PM - Holy Cross at Providence - FS2
