Around the Big East 18/19

Not a Big East topic, but Holloway is a guy who has a bright future. Tough job at St Peter’s, but he really embraces recruiting. A guy who posts here occasionally was involved with a St.Peter’s recruit this year & told me he was extremely impressed with SH in the process. Nice article including support SH gets from Big East coaches.

Hype is hype, but they're scaring me a bit, plus I could be wrong but I seem to recollect we have trouble beating the Hall even on their 'off' years.
And their size and 'quickness' if true, scares me as well.
We shall see what we shall see.
(That's American for Que sera sera.)

I’m friends with Anthony’s uncle. I’m rooting for the kid.
I always wondered why we didn´t have more interest in him.
I'm not sure. Verbal commits claims we were his first offer. I think he had a growth spike along the way which bumped him onto the radar of high majors pretty late into his career.

Interesting comment reflective of fact that Johnnies will need to evidence ability to be tough on the road in conference to have a great season. Tough task in BE.

“Dec. 29 vs. St. John’s at home, 8:30 p.m. (FSN): You couldn’t ask for a better Big East opener. The Johnnies enter the season dripping with hype, but they’ve beaten the Hall just once on the road in the past 20 years (a one-point verdict in 2014).”

It was a great publication. I heard from Greg S, recently. He is doing photo journalism but doesn't follow basketball much any more!
Used to love & rely on Big East Briefs for recruiting. How times have changed. Felipe & Zendon update re their recruiting in 93;

Didn't Big East Brief also have an 800 phone number to get recruiting updates? I remember -- and this was before I started following Redmen.com in the late '90s -- during the final weeks of the signing periods, I would call multiple times a day, racking up huge phone bills. (Also, I remember calling that number during the final episode of "Seinfeld," and hearing that Anthony Glover committed to St. John's.)

To keep my phone bills to a minimum, I used to fax a list of questions to Greg and he would respond in kind at his convenience........he was very accommodating. To supplement Big East Briefs, I also subscribed to Clark Francis' "Hoop Scoop" and Bob Gibbons' All American newsletters or something like that. Now we are spoiled rotten by Redmen.com.
