Can't wait for the Season.
Left out Pitt and G Tech. Curious as to where G Tech is picked since we play them.
Oops, funny, not sure what 'ranking' i pulled up! Ga Tech is ranked #13, Wake, #14, and Pitt, last.

Thanks for posting the Willard interview, very enjoyable read. I thought it was particularly interesting that Willard thinks point guard is going to be an area of strength for the Hall, as that was widely considered as a potential weakness this year for them. No easy outs in this league.

Willard has become a good coach and seems able to get the most out of his guys.
Rightfully, he expects a lot from Myles Powell.
I wish them well when they’re not playing us, but here’s hoping they don’t over-achieve!
Lol.

They underachieved last year IMO. They should've been a Sweet 16 shoe-in and maybe even a darkhorse Elite 8 threat. They had as much experience as anyone and had good chemistry. I think Willard held them back if anything.

Villanova now has the No. 2 recruiting class in the country with the addition of Jeremiah Robinson-Earl. The Wildcats now have two five-star & two four-star commitments.

Nova & Xavier going to be right back where they were pretty quickly. Current version of Big East is very, very healthy conference.

Nova is a corporate machine. It goes without saying, Jay Wright was the hire of a lifetime.

An interesting consideration is......would he have had the same success at St. John's? Or, would infrastructure shortcomings and disorganization have stunted his progress?

I don't pretend to have the answer, but it is an interesting question to ponder.

We’d be more than fine with Matt plus one good recruiter...

Always thought Willard was a good coach, but their exit in the Dance last year did surprise me, given their veteran and talented roster.

Given Nova is the consensus pre-season #1 pick of the coaches, they never left.
But their 2019 Class sure the heck guarantees they wont have to rebuild.
Hoping we break the ice soon.
Probably Cameron Mack.

But we don't have that do we. Question is why.

Wonder if/when pressures Mullin to change that?
Guessing, probably not IF we have the season people expect.

Updated Big East recruiting (based on 247 composite):

2019: (in progress)
2 five stars
10 four stars

2018:
1 five star
12 four stars

2017:
0 five stars
12 four stars

2016:
1 five star
13 four stars

2015:
2 five stars
11 four stars

2014:
1 five star
19 four stars

2013:
0 five stars
11 four stars

These numbers don't paint the full picture, but based on them we have ALREADY out recruited 2013 and 2017. Wow. Would be great if we could contribute...

We better enjoy having a shot against nova this year because they will be kicking out teeth in again for the next 4 years.

Chicago, from a local perspective they may seem to have not left because they are still picked to win BE, but Nova fans are fully aware that they are not picked in top 4-5 nationally this year as in last few years most polls have them 9 or 10. Xavier we know will be a bit down. But after one year of slight retooling, their current recruiting class likely puts them right back in the national picture where they were before 2018-2019 - sustained excellence in a great conference. Where we'd love to be one day..

Big East needs to do more in tournament other than Nova. No one nationally really starts paying attention very closely unless you make the Sweet 16 or better. I understand people will say, "Well, they got a tough draw, so it's ok to lose early every year". My response would be "Find a way". There are upsets literally all over the place every March. There's no reason Seton Hall couldn't have won their game to get to the Sweet 16 last year. It would be such a gift if we could make the tourney, win the opening round, and then have someone pull off a huge upset to have us face a mid major in the 2nd round. Some teams get very lucky that way and instead of facing a team like Michigan State or UNC maybe they play George Mason or something. Either way though, the league needs to make more noise in this regard. We have checked every other box and the only one still unchecked is how we do as a whole come March without Nova.

They lost to the #1 seed Kansas in the second round. They played them tough and lost by 4. That wasn't really a surprise exit.
