Probably not a big surprise that Marquette has two of the top 13 (Hauser & Howard).

Hopefully, our D will be intense this year as it was last year, but more effective because of its depth and superior athleticism and intensity that lasts 40 full minutes.
Looking forward to an exciting season.
Let's go Johnnies.

Very nice. I mentioned on another thread that we are upgrading Taffner.

Read a quote “If you are not building new or upgrading your facilities, you are behind.[/quote]

Any insight into the level of upgrades going into Taeffner ?

Here's a bit more on Providence's new practice facility.... $30M

It should be interesting to see how Little fairs at UNC. He was such a dominant beast at the high school level.

Rothstein
Villanova tops North Carolina by 10 in a 50-minute scrimmage, per release. 41 for Phil Booth and 24 for Eric Paschall, including six made threes. Cam Johnson led the Tar Heels with 19.

Xavier just landed 2019 4-star PG KyKy Tandy.

Per Shannon Russell
KyKy Tandy is the fifth member of @XavierMBB's Class of 2019, joining Zach Freemantle, Dieonte Miles, Dahmir Bishop and Daniel Ramsey. The four-star guard is a huge pickup for Travis Steele and company.

Steele has been killing it on the recruiting trail since he got hired. I still think they will finish top 3 in the league this year.

Thanks for posting. The big guy will always be one of my favorite Knicks and part of the NY sports landscape; never took a day off. Nothing would make me happier than to see Johnnies & Georgetown both back again to their old glory days!

Imagine the type of recruiting we could do if we had a Jared Grasso-type as an assistant instead of Mitch? SJU needs to get on board.

Will we ever land a 4 star HS recruit again? Over 3 years and counting. Meanwhile other rivals are rebuilding and stockpiling their 4 stars to stay relevant and competitive. By the way, for a big man: problem solved. Go after top mid major and top D-2 guys. Didn't Xavier get a D-2 kid? Villanova can pull a kid from the mud and make them into a star. Steph Curry was a 3 star kid. Just have to know how to identify and make them fit.

By the way, haven't really seen any top 25's having trouble with scrimmages against weaker opponents. Yes Nevada lost but they lost to Washington a major conference legitimate team that will be ranked. We faced URI. Duke beat a D-2 team by about 50 or so with all new kids. Interesting how they don't need time to get chemistry but in year 4 of Mullin we need more time for it.

Mike, you just can't compare a D-2 school to Rhode Island. Rhode Island is a very solid D1 program that not only made the NCAA the last two years but won a game each year from a conference that regularly gets a couple of teams in the tourney. Yes, we lost but it was by 6 points and it was a scrimmage. They are in a bit of a rebuilding mode this year, but will be no worse than an NIT team. Loss is just nothing to worry about imho.

SJU was mentioned, along with USC, Oregon State and G'town, as schools recruiting Carl Lewis, 6-10, 250 lb. center, who recently transferred from California to Las Vegas power, Coronado HS. ESPN has him at #61, in the class of '19.

Steele is killing it and evokes streams of curses and sighs from us loyal Johhnie Fans, but i disagree on where they'll finish in 2018-19.
The Top 3 will be St. John's, Nova, and 'Quette, with Providence and Butler rounding out the Top 5. The Hall, G*Town, X, Creighton, and DePaul will fight for positions 6 - 10--at least, that's what the tea leaves are saying to me this morning.
