OK - before I jump to conclusions, is that normal? For example, because all of the same players will be in another city next week and programs don't normally go to every city, they just pick certain spots?
With MA so involved with transfers all week, I can see him taking a breather, but surprised another staff member did not go to Dallas to see Kofi and other kids they are recruiting.

Seems like Exhibit A for the case that we need a 2nd recruiter. It's really quite remarkable how much harder our HC has made this for himself, like he thinks he gets bonus points for degree of difficulty like in the Olympics.

Very disappointing. Makes us look unfocused, weak, lethargic, and unprepared

At this point, I'm stunned. Guessing Mullin thinks his HOF rep is sufficient to attract top recruits. And he doesnt need a well-staffed and structured system. Unbelievable.
I always hesitate to comment as there is a good chance I don't know what I'm talking about, but almost makes you laugh at this point that we didn't have anyone there.
Admit, 'I know nothing' but it bewilders me, since the 2019 recruiting period seems to be critical to our future. It's known we recruit with one-hand behind our back to begin with, so having nobody in Dallas for this high-profile event is utterly baffling.

Cockburn, Gaffney, Scottie Lewis, Igiehon, Precious, and many others all in one place, and we were not there. That literally tells you all you need to know about this program.

We are a blue collar school trying to pull ourselves up from several years near the bottom of our conference. It is just incredible to me that our staff appears to get continually outworked on the recruiting trail. Maybe appearances are deceiving; in this case, I hope so.

What’s really annoying is not only does staff not go to these events. But also not feeling there is a need to hire another recruiter to help out. I’ve said repeatedly. Mullin doesn’t have to hire another recruiter. But if he doesn’t he has to pound the pavement.

And that not one of them will commit to St. John's. You watch.

Sometimes I get the feeling that Mullin thinks that it will take several years to bring this program to be a top 25 ranked team and continues to recruit with that as a guiding principle.

No excuse to not have any staff representing at live period events.

Sometimes you just need to show face to make it appear you are doing your job, or attempt to further strengthen relations etc.

Oh wait...Richmond must still be stuck at the ATM machine near his house withdrawing all the $100 bills from his SJU direct deposit paychecks.

Matt-"Have a personal matter to attend to so could someone else cover the Dallas event for me?"
Rest of staff in unison-"Not my job!".

It will take much longer than that--try never at this rate, with the staff undermanned, out-of-sync and with no direction.
I hate to be this negative--but our HS recruiting is off the rails. And I've supported CM.
Kofi is the most critical recruit in our lens since Lew Alcindor. IMO, he's that critical.
To miss on him, trying like all hell 24/7 would be a blow, to miss on him, half-trying is I'm ashamed to say, a disgrace.
I'm not sick over this, but I'm close.

Per Patelis
Utah State transfer Koby McEwen has committed to Marquette. Huge pickup for the Golden Eagles. Averaged 15.6ppg 5.4rpg 3.2apg this past season. #Marquette #Transfer

Could it be that all these prospective recruits are from our area and we can see them and have access to them whenever we want so there is no need to follow them all over the country. They're all right in our backyard. Just trying to be positive.

I'm off the ledge. Maybe. Seton Hall was there, UCONN, 'Cuse, and I'm sure all the major East Coast powers.
It's not as if we're operating with any major strength like record NCAA appearances or major leverage like a consistent winning tradition and/or recent BEC championships.
We're trying--or at least that's been the spin--trying to get back to that level of competition.
Those 'local' NY Metro kids, Kofi, Jalen, Aidan, Kahlil, would power that revival.
'SOmebdy' on 'staff'' should have been there.
But I over reacted and am off the 'ledge'.
Thanks Gene.
