Around College Basketball

Big night for SH and Rutgers in NJ, over top 25 ranked teams.   Rutgers seems to be on a nice roll.

Why so many NBA players struggle as college coaches

https://watchstadium.com/why-do-so-many-former-nba-players-struggle-as-college-coaches-02-09-2022/

Pretty comprehensive list from high to low majors, current and past

Wow, after reading that I'd sooner hire a member or this board than a former NBA player. In fact I would disqualify a former NBA player from a college job. That said how about down the road Mark Jackson for St. John's. /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

Talented transfer from Marquette, per Zagoria;

Dawson Garcia, a 6-11 forward at @UNC_Basketball , will not return to the team this season to remain home in Minnesota to continue to help with family medical issues.

I’m watching Towson vs William and Mary and between both teams they’re shooting 21-45 from 3!! It’s amazing how schools like this can find shooters but we can’t.

Had heard from UNC sources that they expect him to transfer to Minnesota.  Personally I'd think he goes pro, he certainly has the skill set.

On another topic, did anyone see Michigan v Purdue and if so can you explain that score?  Did not see that one coming at all.

Maybe it's the defense at that level?

Mean, sure is strange. But then again it comes down to recruiting and evaluation  of talent and game coaching ability to go along with a very good staffl
I heard he recd an extension, thought do to his 3 yrs, should have waited until the end of the season, evaluate everything then make a decision
But feel he should have gotten this team to an NCAA ,think we all expected more from this coach
something has to change , like top recruit comes gives us a lift,if not we will be a bottom feeder in the BE for yrs to come
He has chance to bring in  few of top 100 players next season ,we shall see.

There is definitely some truth to that. I follow a couple of low-mid majors and there are a lot of open looks.

Another reason why dropping to a lower conference would be preposterous: We wouldn't close out on three-point shots there either.

Shooters are not born, they are developed..... if there are no shooters year in and year out, whose that on?

Agreed to a certain extent but we do not even make our open looks , they do.

Jermane - did you come here just to troll, or is there some constructive contribution you'd like to make?

Troll? Gee thanks for the warm welcome. I guess by troll you mean that my opinion differs from yours. I have made constructive contributions. Much of what is posted here puts the lack of performance mostly on the players. I don’t see it as such and believe that the staff is suspect at best.

It may help to be constructive if you had anything more to say all the time other than "the coach is doing a bad job" with nothing else behind it.

So you want me to list specifics as to why I think the staff is not doing an adequate job? Does not a season where the minimum expectation was a bid to the Dance which is all but out of the question and having but one Quad 2 win with two of the premiere players in the league infer as such?

Do you think Champagnie has performed this year at a level of one of the premier players in the league?

Champ hasn't.

Some of that is on him (whether physical or mental)

Some of that is on coach (helping him with mental, as well as game planning to put him in best postion to shine, and minimize weaknesses)
