Iona loses to Belmont by 7. Maybe hold off on the Pitino statue in front of campus.
You’d think that with Slick Rick’s knowledge of hoops and horses that this would’ve been a guaranteed W.

Not if you follow college basketball. Belmont has five starters returning who all scored in double figures last season on a team that I believe won 24 games. All five are 5th year seniors who all redshirted and played all five years at Belmont. Not an easy game at all.

And attendance reported at over 20K, largest attendance at a basketball game in NV history.

Great game.

Zags turned the ball over a ton...like 2x Duke. 17 vs. 8

So little use of the bench on either side.

Looks like K will have great chance for one final deep run

Maybe the 2 best teams in the country. Bad last possession by Zags. Great defensive strategy by K. Hate Duke! lol

“Belmont” “knowledge of horses” ..

For all the love Steve Pikiell gets on this board, Rutgers is terrible again.  Lost to UMass tonight to drop to 3-3. Other losses this year to DePaul and Lafayette.

Also our upcoming opponent Pitt is also pretty terrible. Dropped to 2-4 tonight after a loss to UMBC.

Some teams integrate new players or spot producers, who will play well together,  better than others, at least so far

Rothstein
  • Iowa State’s top six scorers — Izaiah Brockington, Gabe Kalscheur, Tyrese Hunter, Aljaz Kunc, Tristan Enaruna, and Caleb Grill — were not a part of the Cyclones’ program last season. Five of those players are transfers. T.J. Otzelberger’s squad is 6-0 and will next host Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Wednesday at Hilton Coliseum.

“We’ll close this Rauf Report with some insight on Bobby Hurley’s future with Arizona State. There was a thought in the offseason that Hurley was going to enter the season on the hot seat, and that is somewhat the case. I’m told this was very much looked at as a “show us the direction of the program” season by the administration because of past collapses in Pac-12 play and last season’s disaster, which led to a mass exodus of transfers. Hurley hasn’t led the Sun Devils past the NCAA Tournament’s first round.”

Hurley was lucky to have been matched with Mullin's last team, in the play- in game three years ago. ASU got blown out in the next game.

Indiana a 2.5 point favorite over Syracuse tonight.     Would love to see a big Hoosier win especially since it will help us the more wins they get plus of course its Syracuse and they can lose every game as far as I am concerned.

It's funny, I have a friend who went to Syracuse, and he was just complaining that Syracuse is turning into BC in terms of relevance in sports since joining the ACC.

Wow. Your friend is right. While they aren't BC level, they definitely have been disappointing, at least compared their history.  Since the '16'/'17 season, in the Final Coaches Poll of each season, they only finished in the top 25 once, in '20/'21 - and they were ranked #25.  In '17/'18 they finished #26 in the Coaches poll.  And of course, this year, they aren't ranked so far.

I wonder, that once Coach K retires, if a little more parity comes to the ACC.

And that's just basketball. Also have to consider their college football team, which has been totally irrelevant. Not that they were a powerhouse in the Big East, but the ACC certainly hasn't helped matters.

BPI, on the other hand, likes Syracuse to win.  Surprisingly, they give them a 64.4% chance of victory.  Even factoring in the Carrier Dome, that seems a bit high, IMO.

Syracuse 49-33 at the half. The Boeheim brothers and Gerard are on fire.
