Around College Basketball

Among other things, Mick Cronin complaining about the cross country travel involved with having to play east coast teams in the Big Ten

I know it’s not the coaches fault but UCLA chose this. Also Maryland was out last weekend at Washington and Oregon so it works both ways.

I miss Mick in the Big East. The guy is a character
Rick gave Mick a break hiring him, so maybe try to set up ooc games w him. A trip to West Coast, net of the horrible situation out there now, is usually fun. Rick v Mick a good watch too.

UCLA is a team I've always eyed once we hired Rick. They play similarly also, so it would be a great test for our team's toughness and defense. They would also draw at MSG and likely be a network game. Do a home and home. I'm sure there's scheduling opportunities where it may actually be helpful for them because of their idiotic B10 schedule anyway

Exactly

If Maryland playing UCLA in a Big10 game isn't one of the worst examples of all that's wrong with college bball these days, well, I don't know what is.

do you think by adding another cross country trip helps them?

They came here for a game against UNC at MSG. The Big 10 has paired their east coast trips (@Penn St/Maryland/Rutgers) with a game on Friday and another on Sunday. We can be doing them a favor, if anything, by giving them a MSG game on a Friday or Sunday if they are coming here for only one game next year.

I will lend the Johnnies Repole’s Jet

Just turned 18 three weeks ago.
As recently a few years ago, he'd be victim of the NBA's "one and done" rule (I phrase it that way intentionally, since it's an NBA rule, but all I hear is that "college basketball has to get rid of one and done" - they can't).

To a certain extent, he still is a victim. NIL helps a bit, but that doesn't provide long-term income. I know it's extremly unlikely, but what if he blows out his knee in the next game?

There's no good reason for him not to be banking 7 figures in the NBA, right now.

I guess I could post the same comment every time I turn on a Syracuse game. Today it’s SU vs Boston College.

This might as well be SU vs FDU in November. No atmosphere. Plenty of empty seats for what used to be a must see battle between good BE schools. Today? No one cares. Man did they really hurt college basketball.

New Mexico up 20 with four minutes remaining
New Mexico is now 14-3. I know we beat them but all this means is they will get in the Tournament over us. Don’t laugh. Remember the committees love for the Mountain West last season. 🙄

NPOY Johnni Broome rolled his ankle pretty badly early in the 2nd half against South Carolina and didn’t return. Couldn’t put any weight on it leaving the floor. Would change the dynamic of college basketball if he’s out for an extended period of time
