Around College Basketball

Rick Barnes took Chaz Lanier out of the Texas game Saturday 11 seconds into the 2nd half and when asked why, explained “I took him out the first play of the second half because he didn’t shoot the ball, that play is designed for that shot. I told him, “If you’re not going to do what you’re getting paid to do, then you’re going to sit over here.” Because he is getting paid to do that.”

He’s not wrong. In the end that’s what paying players brings. They are well paid employees now. Not just “kids”. A double edged sword.

True but he's not paid to shoot, he's paid to do as coached. I'm sure he was coached to take the shot so it all washes out as the same but Just a bad turn of phrase for Barnes.

Storr is getting roasted by Jayhawk Nation.
Small consolation, as he did break the 1000 point mark tonight in just 2.5 years.

That’s now 3 portal busts in 2 years for Kansas at the wing.

Timberlake last year was pretty sought after and was demanding an expensive price tag. Kansas landed him and he was terrible for them.

Storr again one of the top wings on board this spring. Basically saved Greg Gard’s job last year. Potential All American. Can’t get more than 10 mins in a big game like this.

Rylan Griffen who played 30 mpg for Final 4 Alabama last year and was a potential 1st rounder 3 and D type player. Can’t break 20 minutes in a game there

Glad to see Kansas lost to Iowa State and AJ Storr played 10 minutes for Self, scoring 5 points.
I don't know what his motive was to transfer to different schools every year, whether it was chasing NIL money or ultimately wanting to play for a national championship contender, but his greed and questionable decision making has probably significantly dropped his NBA draft position and a lucrative NBA contract.
