Around College Basketball

Am I the only one that gets annoyed when the camera is focused on a player who after he scores follows him as he rushes back to defend, rather than watching the action. They constantly focus on who the announcers are talking about, rather then showing the viewers the game.

Yes, except the scorer rarely "rushes back to defend" in this day and age. ;) :)

Per Yahoo Sports

“This is unprecedented, man."

Houston coach Kelvin Sampson says all 15 players on the team have had COVID-19.

I'm watching BYU/#18 San Diego State on CBS Sports Network, and the Cougars are giving the Aztecs fits.

BYU up 35-20 (on the road) at the half.

BYU beat #18 San Diego St by 10 today. Not such a bad loss for us after all. I think if we had Dunn at 100% , with very good on ball defense we could have won that game.

Some good early afternoon hoops on today:

Good rivalry game - Butler vs. Indiana at 11:30 a.m. on FS1
#3 Iowa vs. #1 Gonzaga at noon on CBS.

Butler starting two smallish freshman guards, don't believe either of them were top 100 kids. Thompson (their best player ) out with injury but they are still playing Indiana tough so far.

Big Franck activated

The Oregon men's basketball team has been given bad news ahead of their Saturday afternoon contest against Portland. Starting center N'Faly Dante has torn his ACL and will be out the remainder of the season.

Oregon will likely start 6-foot-8 sophomore Chander Lawson in his place. The Ducks are also going to be getting 2021 signee Franck Kepnang eligible after the 6-foot-11 four-star center elected to enroll early and join the Ducks this season. Dana Altman said his timetable for availability is still unknown at this time.

Regarding Oregon, FWIW......

Averaging 7.4 pts, 7.4 rbs.

Based on shot attempts, he looks to be their fourth option. He's in green, but is it greener? Time will tell.

Wisconsin beat Louisville by 37 points (85 - 48). That’s just ugly.

My second favorite Irish big man played 7 minutes today. Hope he realizes there are better situations that are also a shorter flight home. . .
Kentucky is 1-5.
Kentucky has played a non conference schedule of Richmond, Kansas, Notre Dame, UNC during a pandemic. This is why having a consecutive winning season streak can be misleading. How many of those teams could SJU beat? I would say none. Now could UK beat a couple of MAAC opponents instead of UNC and Kansas? Simply put SJU would be no better than 1-5 either and Coach Anderson’s consecutive non losing season would be in serious jeopardy.

Um, what does that have to do with this thread?

Please try to stay on topic, thanks.

What?

We have a thread for "around college basketball," which generally means NOT St John's/Coach Anderson/recruiting and also NOT the Big East.

We also have a thread for "around the Big East" which is mostly self-explanatory, and should also generally not include St John's/Coach Anderson/recruiting.

And then we have about a thousand threads for St John's topics.

As we asked on the "Stay on Topic" thread, please try to avoid having every thread go down the same vortex. It makes the site unreadable and we'd rather not start taking an axe to off-topic posts.

Thanks again.

If I'm correct, only 1 four star on the Scarlet Knight squad.
