Around College Basketball

Charlie Baker basically alluded to this when talking about imposing transfer rules, saying they can't do it and need federal legislation.

NCAA deserves all of this coming.

The best thing that could happen is colleges wise up and just say the NCAA doesn't add any value. We will unfortunately lose the name 'march madness' but it's a small price to pay to get rid of this needless spiteful bureaucracy.

Yeah that’s why I’m following the college football playoff stuff closely. It’s really clear that the Big Ten and SEC are basically calling the ncaa’s bluff about adding any value or credibility by trying to dictate the new rules.

Going to lose more of March madness than just the right to use the name.

No way the power conference teams are going to let MAAC and NEC get a chance to split the revenue pie if they don’t have to. We’ll be lucky if the Big East schools are invited to the party

I think we will. We’ve got all the big markets covered, and add legitimate juice to the product.

I also think the Big 10/SEC is self aware enough that March madness is a multi-billion dollar thing that is actually special because of the cinderellas.

What expect is revenue splitting per conference and not D1-wide, march madness units unchanged, and a lot more teams in which will be really annoying

I agree dk, they won’t eliminate the small schools and conferences, they’ll just add more teams so they can get more power conference teams in there. It’s all based on viewership and AD buys. small schools and conferences have plenty of alumni who watch these Games. If they cut them out and it’s just the power 5 plus the Big East they’ll lose viewers. All the alumni from these small schools and conferences won’t watch and neither will the casual sports fan. They need that Cinderella aspect.

Watched some of the Florida game today and Walter Clayton is a real talent. Pretty much does everything you want a guard to do. We would have been a different team with him. Too bad it didn't happen.
Also, read Notre Dame signed a lucrative contract with NBC to telecast football. Don't know if this would have them considering membership in Big East. Leaving ACC might not be feasible.

Wake with a huge win over #8 Duke. Got to think that win puts them on the right side of the bubble for now.
A great back and forth game With some big shots made by both teams. 3 costly turnovers hurt Duke in the last minute or so. The bigger loss for Duke potentially happened after the final buzzer sounded.

At the end of the game, Wake Forest fans stormed the court and during the rush onto the court by the fans, it appeared Duke’s Kyle Filipowski was either run in to or stepped on and was injured. He was being surrounded by and helped off the court by several teammates. I also saw a pile up of fans as someone tripped. While it appears to be fun and a way to celebrate, storming the court can cause a dangerous situation for game participants and spectators and arenas/stadiums must take better precautions. If IIRC, the SEC imposes fines on the school hosting the game if such an incident occurs.

I don’t know how bad it was, but it would really suck if Filipowski misses time because of this.

I don't know this Clayton guy from Adam but I'm sure he's quite good as I've read in a thousand posts on here...but he’s certainly no Daniss Jenkins. Their shooting and rebounding numbers are almost exactly identical. However, Daniss is killing him in assists and assists/turnover ratio where his numbers are twice as good as Clayton.

Pullin is Florida's PG.

There has been 4-5 court storms this week. If im Uconn fans, Im storming the court tonight. Everyone else is doing it. I see no reason why Uconn fans cant get in on the fun.

Looked like a knee the way they were helping him off. I imagine if there's any structural damage to a star's knee this will be what results in a banning of storming.
