Around College Basketball

I remember box seats at Yankee Stadium and later at Shea Stadium costing $3.50. I wonder how much those seats sell for today.

I loved The Sporting News and subscribed as well. It was in a newspaper style format in those days. They published the box score from every MLB game played each week. Hard to believe they could do it with the "technology" that was available back in the day.

My parents were not sports fans. I got my fanaticism for sports from hanging out in the schoolyard with hundreds of kids practically every day. On weekends, I would have breakfast with my family and wouldn't see them again until dinnertime. There was never any adult supervision at the yard, but we managed ourselves quite well and took care of any "issues" that developed on our own. It was a great way to grow up. Kids today don't know what they are missing.
One of the great life lessons from schoolyards and parks was conflict resolution, between peers, then and there; sometimes talking (or yelling) through it, sometimes dealing with it “going further”. But learning to navigate through disagreements without the “help” of adults.

Purdue needs to learn to dial it back in the regular season. They can beat any major team out there, but they are again going to be matched up with a short, fast low major who won't even try to play in the post with Edey and instead will have him on skates the whole game on D.

I don't think they flame out again, but a big scare won't surprise me in the slightest.

Guys…this walk down memory lane is great…going to games back in those days with your dad was always special and memorable…didn’t matter where you sat. :)
Absolutely true. I always used to ask my dad to take me to doubleheaders. He told me that he couldn't sit for two games and that, someday, I will understand why. Now, at the age of 73, I get it.

Glad a school like indiana state, which is a good team, is imploding in Missouri Valley Conference play. If they lose in their tournament they were thought to maybe deserve an at large bid, having been ranked in the top 25. Now that they may not get an at large, perhaps that opens up more for the BE? Just trying to find anything positive here for us.

Drew Valentine is going to win A-10 Coach of the Year. I remember someone on this board banging the table for him to be hired as St Johns coach.
While valentine may win A10 COY, I don't believe he's ready for the BE. DePaul might though.

Loyola Chicago's winning streak is now at six following today's win at Rhode Island. Ramblers remain tied with Dayton for first place in the Atlantic 10 standings. An incredible turnaround in Chicago.

Drew Valentine!!!!!!

Best thing about Loyola sucking last year is that we didn't have to hear about Valentine every damn day like the year before, and apparently now as well.

St John’s would be more likely to hire Bobby Valentine.

and what sucks for Loyola is that the A10 may be a one-bid league if Dayton wins the tournament, with the Big 10 being overrated, as usual, and the Mountain West grabbing perhaps as many bids as the BE.
