Around College Basketball

This is not a surprise except, at least for the time being, Miami is not included. UVA and UNC have been the lesser talked about “hawks” who have been looking to bolt for “greener” more lucrative pasture.

UVA surprises me a bit. They are the weakest of the teams mentioned. I would have thought Big 12 or staying put.

Duke will get left behind IMO. The Big Ten and SEC want to get grid rid of Northwestern and Vandy, respectively, as it is .

I agree as when you think about it with their football history, UVA would not seem to be one of the hawks trying to get out. However, while Clemson and FSU have been leading the charge, UNC and UVA have been with them all along while not getting the same focus. Miami has supported them too so not sure why they aren’t included.

It’s crazy to me. UVA is 10th in the ACC in average attendance for football…barely beating out BC and behind Syracuse. Pitt averages 15,000 more fans and Va Tech averages 24,000 more fans per game to put it in perspective.

They can’t even average 40,000 fans most years against regional teams they match up with competitively…what happens when they are getting blown out by Midwest schools and perennially going 3-8?

24-team football conference when you only play 10 conference games is a travesty. Football needs to break off from the rest of college sports immediately.

Follow the money. Invest in stocks and have a bull market.
It'll be amazing how many 5 stars we get via Wall Street
especially with CRC.

Our starting 5 will have 25 stars and our theme song will be,"
Are the Stars Out Tonight."

That's terrible. I guess the ratings have been an issue with those schools.
Smaller conferences’ regular season means nada now. A team like Iona could have super regular season, get upset in conference tourney and very likely have to put the balls away, unless they had outstanding OOC results v stellar competition.

Former Yukon/G’Town and future opponent Akok Akok had a medical episode. He collapsed. Maybe Say a prayer for the kid.

If smaller conferences wanted to make their regular season meaningful all they have to do is designate their regular season champions as the recipient of the automatic NCAA bid. The automatic NIT bid is relatively recent, as there were zero automatic bids to the NIT. Hence the name, NIT.

Not that I care about the NIT, now that it’s left MSG any remnant of relevance evaporated for me. At one time this was a great tournament - but anyone under 50 has no memory of that, its been a loooong time.
