All of the realignment news this summer has been GREAT for the Big East. UConn was passed over by the only two Power conferences which had any interest, even coming off a national basketball championship and a "good" football season. Further, the biggest threat to our league would be a primarily Eastern conference with a strong basketball presence, because they could potentially outbid us for MSG. That conference isn't happening.
I mentioned a few months ago that the ACC would go after teams like SMU and USF once their top teams are raided. Well, they've jumped on that early by adding 3 teams that would turn MSG into a ghost town. Once FSU (and Miami?) leave they'll add USF, another team that MSG would have zero interest in. They may still add UConn, but clearly the ACC's priority is a nationwide football conference and at best they'll become the AAC+.
