Around College Basketball

That stinks for them. I rooted for them (as much as I am ever going to really root for PAC12 teams) because I despised Washington and Oregon.

They will not survive being independent. Where do they go?
Pray for Mountain West, but if not, beg the WCC for admission and play hyperlocal independent football schedule for a couple years to see where it leads. It's not like either were ever going to win the national championship so play as many schools as you can from bordering states and see what happens.

Obviously money matters and the schools wish they were in the Pac or a HM conference, but I really feel Washington state’s basketball program will benefit overall. Yes you’ll miss the rivals coming to campus but the path to success is easier to see.

Would you rather go 13-18 in the PAC or 22-9 in the mountain west?

you think they still maintain the same caliber of recruit being in an inferior conf? Feel like that's def part of the draw going to a team in a Major conf... playing against those Big teams.

That's why when posters said stupidly over the years we should move down to the A10 (some might have been joking, but think some were serious) - We wouldn't get near the caliber of player we were* getting to only go 6-14 in the BE... teams don't demote conf due to them being successful

Success will breed success. Do San Diego state or saint marys recruit at a lower level than Washington state cause they are in a worse conference? It’s hard to get out of a basement. Since 1990 Washington state has had five 20 win seasons and sixteen with less than 15 wins.

Keeping the PAC12 is still the right move. Merge the Mountain West into the PAC-12 in a way that preserves the most money owed to the conference members and add some basketball only schools like Gonzaga, St. Mary's, Wichita State, and/or Santa Clara to get to 16 teams. That's not a terrible conference in football and it's pretty good in basketball. It also gives WSU and OSU a better fit competitively than they had in the old PAC 12 and a much better fit geographically compared to any other options.

There is too much value in the PAC-12 name to let it go and there is too much money coming to OSU and WSU to leave it on the table.

Keeping the pac 12 name alive makes sense but how much do mountain west schools get in their tv deal ? Isn’t the pad 12 deal up ? I’d have to believe even if they do this the new pad 12 desk would be seriously devalued. Wasn’t the last offer Apple TV or something ? I guess maybe get a deal with paramount so we don’t have to see marathons of bar rescue all day and early evening on the weekends
