Around College Basketball

You know I was thinking of two interesting things:

1)Jim Boeheim and Rick Pitino I believe are the only 2 coaches currently coaching who coached against Lou Carnesecca in a game. I think Bob Huggins was at Akron and then Cincy when Looie was still active but I don't believe they ever coached against each other. John Calipari began coaching at UMASS when Looie was still active but again I do not believe they every opposed each other in a game. And...

2)It would be interesting of Syracuse, Georgetown and SJU all had coaching vacancies in the same year. Sort of the 3 pillars of the original BE.

Leonard Hamilton coached against Lou while at Oklahoma State and Miami.

Boeheim will probably drop dead on the sidelines before he would step away
and maybe not even then. Anyone see his last few press conferences? Brutal. Very condescending to press. Last one he gave the reporter a hard time for asking about a player that didn't get in the game. It turned out to be the first and last question asked before Jimmy stalked off.

Yeah he is getting more surly. Here is his press conference from last night the first question was a reasonable one. It was from a student and he asked about Benny Williams (normally a starter) was not at the game. Totally reasonable question Boeheim was completely childish in his response:

Then after the UNC game he stalked off after the last question was about how his team is having trouble "closing out games", see end of conference:

Didn't he also give the media a hard time years ago when they asked him about having that child molester on his staff for so long?

You are right how did I miss him especially the famous 45-42 game in Looie's final year...LOL
Because that is a game fans of both sides would like to forget. I actually had erased this from my mind until you brought it up.

He has always been condescending to the press, even when things were rolling, maybe less surly, but condescending nevertheless.

Big win by Fordham against A10's first place team St. Louis. Keith Urgo was on the Michael Kay (Fordham grad) radio show yesterday. Spoke highly of the backing and actions the program is getting from Fordham's President and Ed Kull along with the job and change of culture that started under his predecessor, Kyle Neptune. Fordham is 6-3 in conference and 18-4 overall (played a soft preseason schedule).

The fans are coming out and backing the team. Must be nice.
