Around College Basketball

Some serious arrogance from Jimmy B. Says he would "prbably" come back next year, says the decision is entirely his. Claims 95% of SU fans want him back.

Then this doozy where he accused Pitt and Miami of "buying" their teams:

"This is an awful place we're in in college basketball," he said. "Pittsburgh bought a team. OK, fine. My [big donor] talks about it, but he doesn't give anyone any money. Nothing. Not one guy. Our guys make like $20,000. Wake Forest bought a team. Miami bought a team. ... It's like, 'Really, this is where we are?' That's really where we are, and it's only going to get worse."

He added: "It's crazy. That's why those guys got out -- that's why Jay [Wright] got out, Mike [Krzyzewski] got out. That's the reason they got out. The transfer portal and everything is nuts. It really is."

Maybe he should follow them and get out, just saying.

Nationally ranked St. Mary’s beat Gonzaga and is 10-0 in conference two games ahead of the Zags. SM had 5 white players on court at same time (only pointing this out because we all know basketball is dominated by black players and to make the point I doubt many of them were highly ranked or highly recruited) proving just how important the head coach is in college basketball. He identified talent, coached and schemed them up.

as part of their recruiting, they seem to have a good network in Australia
It seems they have three key Australian players, a Lithuanian, two 3 star recruits and a low 4 star. Overall the talent level is probably similar to ours but of course the coaching makes a big difference.

Up 3, Portland should have fouled at midcourt, then none of that would have happened.
Idk, not that I don’t think it would have been the right move, but even still, Portland got rebound off a missed free throw up one with a second left. If you foul up 3 you’re still gonna have to get a rebound to seal it. They did that part, just clueless technical when the game was over.

You don't have to grab the rebound. Just make sure the ball bounces around for a bit.

I do it 100 times out of 100.

But isnt that all they had to do on this miss?

Rebound a missed free throw is what they would have to do in either situation. I don’t disagree with fouling, although I don’t think it’s 100/100, but in this game that’s not what did them in.

Fordham 19-5/7-4. Games selling out at Rose Hill.

I said when they hired Neptune 2 years ago that I thought they finally got it right.
