Absolutely crazy that the AD would tank their team's season when they were projected to have their first contending season in a while less than 2 weeks before tip. Whatever the issue was between him and Mas had to be fixed either this past April or next April.

Bigger question is why would you ever allow a coach to be a lame duck in CBB?

Never should have happened, extend or fire him this past March.
 
Someone’s about to get an unexpected chance to prove themselves.

I remember his name was often mentioned for potential job opening when he was having early success. Give me body of work over flash in the pan.

Not sure how realistic it is for Perez and others to consider transferring. There are 10 seniors on the team. They would not be able to transfer until after the 1st semester. While i can understand the loyalty to the coach who recruited them. It is irrational to think that they can just transfer at this point in their college careers. First, they need to find schools with scholarships. Then if you are able to transfer, it will be extremely difficult to adjust to a new situation.

Personally, I don't see these young men transferring.

Rothstein reports that Manhattan transfer Jose Perez tells him that he's receiving interest from the following programs: Oregon Alabama Memphis Wake Forest Kansas State Mississippi State West Virginia Clemson Nebraska URI UMass San Diego WKU Nc State Texas Georgia Tech DePaul Missouri.

If Memphis is involved, we're no doubt involved.
 
Man if you can get him for 2nd semester and immediately eligible under the new rules I think it would be worth a call.

Now I don't know if SJU has any available scholarships.
