Around College Basketball (non-Big East) 2018/19

That's a really good borderline Q1 away win for #43 VCU over #82 Dayton. VCU looking more and more like it'll remain a Q1 victory on Selection Sunday.

It's really such an underrated win by most people here. If instead of VCU, what if we beat Syracuse, Ohio St, Indiana, Minnesota, Florida, Clemson, Alabama or Oklahoma? People would be a lot more excited, right? Well, all those teams are behind #43 VCU in NET, or at best 3 spots ahead of them. So aside from bragging rights for beating a "Power" school, there isn't any difference as far as our resume is concerned.
Bowling Green also won (again) beating Northern Illinois by 20.
Rurgers up 33-32 at the half over #21 Iowa.

Ga Tech lost again and is in a downward spiral.
Rutgers has learned to use their size and has nationally ranked Iowa on the ropes. We have not progressed as well and likely wouldn't beat them at this stage of the season.
Lol good one

Fantastic ending to Rutgers game.

A wild ending at Rutgers! Rutgers looked like they were gonna get the 'W,' but Iowa hits a shot at the buzzer. Full court, baseball pass and the shot skips off the backboard--into the basket--for the Hawkeyes.

Rumor yesterday on sports radio in Las Vegas was that Rick Pitino was offered the UNLV job. Hope it is not legit, because current coach, Marvin Menzies, is doing a good job, and I'd hate to see Pitino enriched and validated after his behavior while at Louisville.

Re Zion injury
Coach K: “We’re very concerned about Zion. It’s a mild knee sprain. We will know about length of time tomorrow. It’s stable. Obviously it has an impact. You lose the NPOY on the 1st play.”

The Zion situation has some extra layers to it. It’s not just about the extent of the injury, it’s more about does this scare him and his family enough to shut him down and get ready for the draft.

I really hope college basketball doesn't go the way of college football.

I recently spoke to someone who works at the NBA. I said how excited about Zion as a prospect and she said not very. It’ll be interesting to see if his game translates agains bigger men/better athletes.

There are actually a lot of people calling him the next LeBron. I call those people insane.

He does not have anywhere close to Lebron's passing skills, and Durant has better perimeter skills.

The most apt comparison to me, is that he is a taller version of Charles Barkley. The league has kind of gone away from that type of player in recent years, but maybe Zion can bring it back.

Zion is NBA strong already and how old is he ? 19 or 20? He will get stronger at the Pro Level . Even if the NBA is uncertain , how about the NFL ? Imagine Zion as a tight end replacement for Gronk on the Pats ? Brady could play until he was 60 .

Per Darren Rivell
Sources: Duke paid for Zion Williamson’s insurance policy, as schools are allowed to do. Premium for a $8 million loss of value policy runs around $50,000.

At what point does the insurance kick in, though? How many spots does a kid have to fall in the draft for him to become eligible?

If it's just a knee sprain, no big deal, but look at what happened to Michael Porter Jr. last year. A bad back cost him 13 draft spots. I'm sure he got insurance for that, but if a team had decided to take a chance in the Top 5, would he have gotten something? A drop from 1 to 5 is still loss of revenue. Heck, a drop from 1 to 2 is still a loss of revenue.

Just read that Boheim was behind the wheel of a car that killed pedestrian.( sorry if this was posted previously).

He was not at fault. The man killed was a passenger in a car that was involved in an accident before Boheim happened upon the scene. The man was walking on the highway. Apparently, neither speed or alcohol was was involved. Very unfortunate!

Tough break per David Borges;
Kassoum Yakwe to undergo season-ending surgery tomorrow
