Any more talk of moe staying or going?

I think Moe is going to be closer to the 15th pick this year than he will be to the second round.

His stock is going to soar after he visits teams for individual workouts. Moe is going to wow teams with his length, talent and intelligence.

He is a special player with a very high ceiling and (in homage to the recently departed Jay) NO TATTOOS which is impressive enough!

If all goes well, JaKaar Sampson could also go pro after one season of college ball.

In the long run, the early exits will help St John's recruiting efforts. Recruits want to play for coaches that are going to get them to the next level—and fast.

Too bad. He made a big mistake. He could have had a year exclusively at small forward next year and showcased his skills.

He would have played on the most talented SJ ever with Karr, Green, Harrison, Amir and others. Sweet 16 material to showcase his talent and likely top 10 draft pick.
You leave school for the 2nd round only when your academics suck.
If he stopped attending classes......it is too late for Moe.

I wish him all the best but I too see him possibly sliding to the second round.
Had Mo returned with the three players Coach has added to date we would be real good.
If we add another big or two we could make a serious run in the tournament.
I hope the people who are advising him stop thinking of their own interests and start to really look at what is best for Mo.

Welcome to the board Andrew and I pray you are correct for Mo and for St. Johns.

I keep hearing that Jeremy Lamb is a lottery pick. Really? Would the majority of the posters on this board honestly take Jeremy Lamb over Moe Harkless? I wouldn't.

Lamb came back for his sophomore season and was he any better than he was last year when he played alongside Kemba Walker?

I hope you are right.

Chad Ford on ESPN.com now has Moe dropping to the last pick in the first round #30 going to the Chicago Bulls. If he projects to fall out of the first round by April 10th does anyone think he'll reconsider and come back?

Nope.

Dinkins, I am curious to your overall opinion of his decision at this point (knowing he is dropping). You say he won't come back, and I agree, but do you think at this point it is really a huge mistake. Also, what do you think his reasoning is for going even of he will potentially be a 2nd rounder?

I think he should've came back for one more season. IMO, I think he could've ended up being a top 3-5 pick a season from now, if he were to come back. There are a few things, that has already been expounded several times on here, in which he needs to work on.

Is it a mistake for him to leave? If he ends up being a top 15-25 pick, then I guess he made the right decision based on a financial standpoint. If he ends up getting drafted in the second round, then it'll certainly look like he made the wrong decision. He'll have to work hard, if he goes in the second round. I'm not saying, he isn't a hard worker, but he'll have to work that much harder.

I heard Harkless could grow to 6'9" or 6'10". Maybe, he views himself as a hybrid forward (small and power). I don't know! I just wished he had waited before making a decision. Then, again he probably had made his decision before our season was over.

It doesn't take much for these kids to leave nowadays. If they hear there is a chance (regardless, how small or large) they can go in the first round, then they'll bolt.

Hell! James McAdoo is contemplating bolting. A kid who only averaged 6.1 ppg and 3.9 rpg; has only led the team in scoring in two games this season (albeit, in the NCAA tourney versus Vermont and Kansas); never led the team in in rebounding; nor was he a starter (only started 3 games this season).... But, he's contemplating on heading to the NBA.

Guess what? He's projected to go higher than his UNC counterparts--Barnes, Marshall and Henson--who has entered the draft early. Guys who has done way more in college than McAdoo. Quite frankly, I think McAdoo will be better than all of those guys (in the long run), but he should certainly return to school.

The NBA is all about potential, and that is what scouts and GMs see in guys like Harkelss. I hope he goes rather high in the draft and have a long, prosperous career. But, I wished he had waited another season before making the leap.

Looking for a comparable player in recent years Mo reminds me most of Rudy Gay. Pehaps an inch shorter but similar frame, long arms, great leaping ability, and very fluid on the court. Both BE Freshman of the Year. But Gay was a better 3-point shooter as a Freshman and was National Freshman of the Year as well. He also played on a stacked team which may have made his shooting opportunities more in rhythm. He stayed his sophomore year, was a Naismith Award finalist, and was drafted No. 8 overall. In the NBA he came off the bench as a rookie, played 27 min/game and avaraged just under 11 ppg. Since then he has started and averaged 19-20 ppg every year. Not a superstar but a very solid career as a starter.

I think if Mo stayed another year he would project very similarly to Rudy Gay. Leaving a year earlier he probably won't have the immediate impact Gay did because he lacks strength and his shooting is not good enough. I only hope he gets the coaching support and reps he needs as an NBA rookie to develop the extra strength and skill level he will need to excel. I'd love to see him stay a year but will root for his success in the NBA if he goes.

He is no longer in school.

Andrew, he now closer to the 30th pick. Individual workouts may not impress GM's and coaches as much as game film on his demeanor during games and he will not gain any strenght in the next 4 weeks! I see him slipping on thin ice. A very bad decision by most people that have watched him closely.
