A win on the road vs Nova would go along way in CMA getting back into alot of our good graces.
Or split next two, then getting on a mini roll v less than stellar BE teams moves the needle for me.

That works for me as well, Paultz

“I thought their pressure was phenomenal and and they did a really good job of coming after Kooks [Kadary Richmond],” Pirates coach Kevin Willard said.
Was Richmond a point guard at South Shore? Or did he just have the ball a lot because he was a high D-1 player à la Jordan Riley? There is definitely a difference between a natural-born point guard and a stud basketball player, especially in the face of a serious pressure defense.

Richmond didn't look like a natural-born point guard with 11TO's nor a stud player with 3-27 shooting

Anderson coached one good game this year (Hall).

Stinks that he's not going anywhere, and he's likely too stubborn to change his strategy or even consider a staff shakeup..  His nephew, TJ Cleveland does nothing on the sidelines either.

There is no fire or energy and it starts at the top.

so tired of this.

Towards the end of the first half there was a stoppage in play and the camera turned to TJ. He was just standing there next to CMA and not saying a word and looking like a deer in the headlights. At that point I realized that we had no clue and I went to walk the dog in the - 25. I figured that would be more enjoyable than watching the game.

I also find it interesting that Paul Pressey the special assistant sits at opposite end of bench and not near Anderson.

I agree with you but when you think of it him sitting next to CMA would mean that CMA would be relying on him for in game assistance as opposed to his nephew and there we have the reason why Paul Pressey sits at the end of the bench. CMA runs the huddles and is very involved in recruiting as we have seen from the photos, as are the other two assistants, so I ask again what does TJ Cleveland do ?
i have yet to receive a proper answer to this question. It is starting to remind me of Mullins staff where the second highest paid staff member did no work.

Hey Aubie …..

A better resemblance may be Mike Jarvis II.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if Mr. Cleveland, titled “Associate Head Coach” is the highest paid member of his Uncle’s coaching staff.

I see we're in the "let's lash out at the assistants" portion over our coaching death throes.
I have no issue with the assistants who are there.  Anything being said about TJ is just conjecture.

I am disappointed that we do not have an assistant on staff, who specializes in designing half court offenses.  It's even more disturbing that we had an opportunity to fill a spot with someone like that over the summer, and did not (although Shoes is a highly respected recruiter, which is obviously important).

One of the reasons I tend to defend Lavin's time here (even though he was far from perfect), was because of his hiring of Mike Dunlap, and after he left, Jim Whitesell.  Even though the latter didn't work out here, it was hired with the right intention.  Lavin knew what he didn't know, and filled the spot accordingly.

Anderson could take a lesson in that department (so could a lot of college coaches, frankly).

What should we do if after 3 years here CMAs record is 38-47,
and that he has a 4 year record of 47-64?

What should we do?

If you would fire any coach with that record in a 4 year span, you would have advocated firing Coach K.   That was his 3 year record at duke and 4 year record including his last season. At Army.

we have to admit it takes.time to rebuild a dead program, and if you go back, maybe firing Fran, Jarvis, Lavin were all premature even if they appeared justifiable to some.

I would hope Mike Cragg would insist on a Mike Dunlap type coach on Anderson’s staff.

What's the old line, something like, "It's not about x's and O's it's about Johnny and Joes." We need better players.

Before this thread takes on another 50 posts, let's remember yesterday's loss was to the #14th ranked team on their court.  It's a team with arguably one of the top two or three best coaches in the nation.

Yes, we have glaring deficiencies.  But, this is not the game that should push everyone over the edge.

Anderson built his reputation as a defensive coach.  I don’t see it,  but I’ll let others decide.

What really bothers me is the offense.  There seems to be no plan.  No back screens,  centers at the top of the key,  and an endless weave to run out the clock and then someone jacking it up.  It doesn’t work.
I  don’t have the answer,  but the definition of insanity is …..

Clearly this “Defense-minded” coach does not know how to defend the “3.”

hey Spocky
…..are you saying that CMA is now wearing a toupee ?

If you’re still defending Anderson at this point you’re the problem with this program.

It’s not like Anderson is this young up and coming coach who could fulfill his potential going forward. He’s an old dinosaur who the game has clearly passed by.

The roster next year is going to be way worse than this year’s. So we’re going to suck next year regardless and he’s given little reason to be confident that he can recruit upper tier Big East talent here going forward.

His system only works against teams that can’t shoot 3s. Which was great back in Nolan Richardson’s day in 1994 but clearly doesn’t work now with most teams emphasizing shooting the 3.

He hasn’t had a team finish in the top 25 of the rankings to end a season since 2014 and hasn’t gotten out of the 1st weekend of the NCAA tournament since 2008.

Kudos to him for having a pretty distinguished career that saw him have success (mostly early on) but he’s clearly not the answer here and the longer he coaches here the longer we will be in purgatory.
