Anderson - is he really the guy ?

I may be wrong, but didn’t Anderson receive a 6 year extension after being named BE COY? I would the buyout $$$ makes it incredibly unlikely that he would be replaced unless the program goes into a major tailspin

Unfortunately, he was extended to 2026-2027.

Awful.

Just remember, he was fired from his last job, because he did not win enough.  Coaches usually don't get big-time opportunities again, after that.  In fact, I can only think of three in recent years, and we've hired two of them (Lavin).  The other is Ben Howland at Miss. St., which, when combined with Lavin, may tell you something about UCLA.

Give me a coach who was fired for cheating.  At least I'll get some enjoyment before the sanctions hit.

Shaka Smart at Marquette, Rick Barnes at Tennessee.  Plenty of others

I totally agree go out and get Pitino!  This team is awful in so many respects! The problem is that this University in its infinite wisdom extends this guy for 6 years! That was a very poor business decision! They are not in a financial position to eat 6 years of his contract! So now they painted themselves into a corner! I have to tell you that I am so done with this program! Todays loss just put me over the top!

If this team winds up finishing with 5 confer wins then Andersen has to go.

Yeah, but what if they finish with eight or nine?  The season would still be an enormous disappointment.

Hire Pitino and end the madness. This guy stinks as a coach. His calling card is he’s consistent at being slightly better than mediocre. The talent level on this team sucks, the coaching sucks and his recruiting is awful.

This Catholic University is not going to do that and you know it so to keep repeating it makes no sense other than sounding like a broken record.

Isn’t Christianity about forgiveness?  Why does our being a catholic university have any relevance?  Do Catholics have a higher sense of morality than others?

It's called "selective forgiveness". The Catholic church is notorious for it. Pitino would have had a better chance at being forgiven and hired if he had killed someone
This team is killing me and I am not forgiving anyone :)

Champ out or not,, after Pitt debacle, I'm convinced that Anderson will never win us a big game.

He can join the pantheon of St. John's coaches about whom you can say the same thing.

Around here you get rewarded with an extension/raise for 16 wins and what would have been an NIT bid, if nearly the entire team didn't decide to transfer out before the post season began. It's a great gig if you can get it.

Semi jokingly, I'd take Lavin back in a heartbeat right now.  Yes, tons of warts but we at least won with him, made Top 25 and 2 tourneys.

And Mullin was a crappy coach, if we can even call him one, but at least there was a buzz with the program and had some fun wins that were like the NCAA for me given how little expectation there was.  GIANT SLAYERS....lol

Is Anderson really the guy?
No,  but he is our guy for the next four years.  A terrible mistake.

Posters lament about the quality of the talent recruited.  Nine hundred guys in the transfer portal and this is the best we could do?

A supposedly defensive coach whose teams allow uncontested layups,  uncontested threes and 90 minutes of hell that is a slogan.  This is not what was expected.

Fundamentals are missing.  Hardly anyone boxes out,  rebounding is poor, no indication we have an offensive plan and seemingly free substitution.  Everybody gets a trophy.

It will be difficult to compete in the Big East this year and in the future unless CMA admits he needs help.  Unleash some of the assistants who may have different ideas.

Maybe start with his nephew who is associate head coach. Not sure what he really does.  At least Macon and Vetrone are recruiters and have coached.

Nepotism perhaps?

I thought CMA was a coach that stressed Defense.  Weren’t we the worst in the BE last year?

I said when they fired Lavin, not to take the results he got here for granted.  I wasn't sure we could do much better, especially if we continued to play by the rules.  I also didn't like when we did it.  After we decided to keep him following year 4 (you could have justified firing him after the Robert Morris debacle), then he should have a 2 year extension, to set him up for recruiting.  Instead, without anything guarenteed (I think he had a year left, which is nothing in college sports,), the inevitable new coach was left in limbo.

Macon and Vetrone are recruiters, but so far they haven't proven to be very good ones. Granted Vetrone hasn't been here very long. If he is going to have any success here, CMA needs an ace recruiter. Lavin had Lavin, Mullin had Matt, CMA has no one. I'm so sick of hearing about how hard this staff is working on the recruiting trail. Once again, you don't get rewarded for effort, you get rewarded for results. And so far, going in to his 4th recruiting cycle, the results have not been there to the degree they need to be. .

I wasn't happy with Lavin, and thought we could do better. I still think we can, just not confident that we will under CMA. In fact, pretty sure that we won't.

Sorry to say but I have asked myself about his nephew and discussed same with other respected posters on this board and no one has a clue why he is on staff. If he was so good why hasn’t another school offered him a head coaching position ? Are the other 350 ADs blind as to his talent.
i don’t see him bringing in any recruits of substance nor do I see him providing  any proper in game coaching. Hopefully Mike Cragg has a good talk with CMA about his nephew, and sooner than later.

I know nothing about CMA's contract, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume that he's got the school by the balls with regard to decisions about his staff, etc etc etc. Just my gut.

Best thing you can say about CMA today is at least he didn't forget his chapstick.
