All Realignment Talk Here

Size of Fox Contract keeps getting bigger. Remember, Newsie was sure it'd be around$100 mill for 10 years. (just kidding KN). Now it's publicly being quoted at the $500 mill for 10 years that even idiots like me didn't believe that could happen. Notice a pattern. Fox wants games next year. Fox replaced the BE money. Fox wanted this over with. No harm.

The thing that keeps me laughing is the size of the "Big Other" Conference's TV deal. I thought Football was king revenue earner? ;)

I sit and quietly laugh in the background

i wonder what happens if/when uconn, cincy and/or usf leave the "old big east" when a spot opens up in the acc due to further realignment.....do they get to keep their $30 million or do they forfeit those monies?....if aresco has any brains, that money should be tied to their remaining in the new conference.....

i'm so glad we're out of there!!

"I think it will be as good as any league," Boeheim told USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday. "I think it can be a top basketball league, I really do. They have the TV deal. Their fear, which is not going to happen, is that (football) schools break away from the NCAA and form some big deal. But I don't see that happening."

"They will end up with a really good league," Boeheim said. "They'll have some money coming in, and looks like they have a TV contract. And they don't ever have to worry about football juggling them around again. That was always going to happen.

notre dame entered the big east on their own terms...should have been required to play fb...now they want another year to bridge acc move...would not accept them....before b.e. you had to beg them to sched game, and it had to be at msg...let irish go on their merry way, they were last dagger in b.e. demise...

I would not do it for 1 year either but the "rumor" was $4 million per BE school if ND a "permanent" member.

I've been saying this for a while - stop catering to ND - giving them the best of all sports - the Big East gave them more (soccer, lacrosse, basketball, volleyball etc.) than ND gave us.
Some say "Oh ND has a lot of money, they are an attrraction"

I've not seen too many ND baseball, ND soccer, ND basketball, ND lacrosse apparel walking the streets - have you?

all the best

Too bad we will not be playing ND in the future! The kids play so well together.

Reason Fox can pay so much is that now they arent paying him since he retired

Sad

“@SIPeteThamel: What happens to A-10? Big decision is adding 2 or 4. Mason and Davidson first. Then maybe Siena and Charleston?”

What level of writing? Do you want to see the contract? I still don't think it's really $500 mill but its in writing that they're paying at least $3 mill per school. That's double what the hoops teams are getting from the present BE contract and more than the football schools are getting in their new contract. That is the smell of victory for the hoops teams..

Call up your old colleagues :)

Gotta give the A10 credit...they are resilient...BE has been poaching them forever, dating back to Nova and Pitt

Seems Pitt did a few schools much harm, and do I have it right that G.Town was a partner to the bad call?

No pretty much Pitt who derailed the old BE deal then flew the coop

agree pitt has punked big east.....but if the negoitiators for c7 are same fools that let big east fb schools get 100m of 110 mil, then c7 will be paying fox for tv exposure..seems that c7 should have got a third of 110 mil.....and who cares about b.e. name.....create a new name, like the really ,really big east as ed sullivan would say...btw, the a-10 may be reason why c7 doesn't get the big bucks...they have decent product for less money...

Most of the monies the FB schools are receiving are the early exit fees ( 2 years) from the C-7.

[quote="buckethead" post=60333 It confuses me why they don't look at places like Duquense...tough choice competitive or staying with the theme the league seems to be leaning towards.

Because like LaSalle, Fordham and St. Bonaventure, Duquense is essentially a MAAC team pretending to belong in the A10.

They have no business in the C7.

La Salle beat VCU and Butler plus won the Big Five and has a fine history they are nothing like Fordham, or the others!!

They haven't been to the NCAA in 21 years and that was when they were in the MAAC.
They're conf record since joining the A10 is 102 - 170
They play in a gym that makes CA look like the Carrier Dome.

They are projected in the NCAA's!
I wish we could say that!!!![/quote]

How do you like La Salle Now?????
