All Realignment Talk Here

notre dame entered the big east on their own terms...should have been required to play fb...now they want another year to bridge acc move...would not accept them....before b.e. you had to beg them to sched game, and it had to be at msg...let irish go on their merry way, they were last dagger in b.e. demise...

I would not do it for 1 year either but the "rumor" was $4 million per BE school if ND a "permanent" member.

I've been saying this for a while - stop catering to ND - giving them the best of all sports - the Big East gave them more (soccer, lacrosse, basketball, volleyball etc.) than ND gave us.
Some say "Oh ND has a lot of money, they are an attrraction"

I've not seen too many ND baseball, ND soccer, ND basketball, ND lacrosse apparel walking the streets - have you?

all the best

Yea but how much gear do you see for any of those sports for Any school in the country? Close to zero. I see as much ND gear as I do for any other school.

UConn, Cincinnati leaning towards Catholic 7?

I don't want them anywhere near this new conference.

UCON is like crap. The more you play with it the more it smells!

Will it affect certain kids? Of course — kids who want to play in Madison Square Garden. There’s such upheaval in the NCAA overall, the only consistency in the NCAA is its inconsistency. Kids make decisions on schools, coaches. Kevin puts himself across very, very well. It seems kids love to play for Kevin, and not only Kevin but the other coaches there.”

Kareem Memminger isn’t so sure. Memminger coaches the well-known New York Rens AAU program, which featured 2013 UConn commits Terrence Samuel and Kentan Facey. The Huskies have mined the New York City area beautifully over the years, from Ben Gordon (Mount Vernon, N.Y.), A.J. Price (Long Island) and Kemba Walker (the Bronx) to current Husky Omar Calhoun (Brooklyn), Samuel (Brooklyn) and Facey (Long Island).

When asked if being in a new conference with a tournament not at Madison Square Garden would hurt UConn’s ability to recruit the Big Apple, Meminger responded: “Yeah, of course. Not being a high-major conference that gets six, seven teams into the tourney, now being a conference with maybe one automatic bid? Of course it’s gonna hurt recruiting.”

“Let’s face it, man,” he added. “It’s Conference USA.”

Yes but A
not enough ND gear to justify giving them such a big break - let them fly away
again, who benefits more ND or Big East traditional teams (soccer, lacrosse, baseball etc.) by the presence of ND? ND does.

General I have to disagree with you here. I am more concerned about what they can bring to the new conference. As I said not on a 1 year deal. But, if we can somehow make them a permanent member I would do it because of what they bring to the conference. You can't say they do not, as my kids would say, add "swagger" to this new league. It helps our new BE to have them with us rather then the ACC>

“@McMurphyESPN: Unless something happens late, Fox won't announce Catholic 7 deal Tues. cuz of "bureaucratic hold up." Deal still on though”

Agree. Would only want ND on a permanent basis, not a one year "transition to the ACC."

We owe no favors to ND.

That said, I'd take them back as full members. Despite their postseason mishaps, they have long had a quality program.

At the press conference announcing the channels, Fox Sports also will unveil its 12-year, $500 million media rights deal for the Catholic 7, the group of basketball schools that is negotiating to break away from the Big East to set up its own conference. As part of that deal, Fox already has held informal talks about sublicensing a package of games to ESPN. That move follows ESPN’s six-year, $130 million media rights deal for the Big East. In that deal, ESPN already has held informal talks about sublicensing a package of games to Fox Sports.

Fox and ESPN are in bed in so many ways. Industry insiders jokingly call them FOSPN. There will be sublicensing back and forth on both levels.
