That is what I would like too see. Solid 12 team conference. Gonzaga is just not going to happen there is no way

I guess this is the best thread for this thought. I just love seeing WVU lose.

I think Kilicli's AARP membership has kicked in.

Actually if SJ signs Lawrence and all our guys come back (and of course GIFT!), we can kick some ass next year with depth and experience and send Syracuse, Louisville, ND and Rutgers a fond farewell.

Syracuse will already be gone this is the last year. The others will be though.

Unfortunately we will be playing them every year going forward.

They're one of SJ's biggest rivalries. I think it's time to stop bad mouthing Syracuse for leaving the league. Go back two-three years and more on this list and see how many members of this group wanted (desperately) for the Catholic schools to split from the football schools. What Syracuse did was split before the Johnnies and the rest of the Catholic schools got around to doing it.

Rumors are a dime a dozen but all I'm hearing is that VCU will not be invited. The push is on for Dayton although I have also heard from one source that Xavier would not be thrilled about sharing C7 in Ohio with another school. Then again, I also heard that despite public utterances Georgetown is not 100% behind the new league but they're on board because they have nowhere else to go BUT if the ACC were to call the C7 could say goodbye to the Hoyas.

I'm not bad mouthing them for leaving. I hated them well before that. Their fans are the biggest douche's in the Big East to me. But lets not knight them as helping us by leaving. Wheels were in motion well before their defection.

I can't imagine why Aresco thinks any of the Basketball 7 would want to play any of the remaining schools, especially if he going to keep the name or have them shell out money for them to keep it.

Aresco wants to add a 12th member & keep Big East name, sounds like a law suit in the making

Any FBI conf needs 12 teams in order to have a championship game. It's been rumored for weeks that Tulsa will get the next invite. Be sad to see it go but Aresco and the FBI teams may try to extort a small fortune for the C7 to keep the BE name. If the FBI schools want the name so be it.

Fire Aresco!

I heard on ESPN - Andy Katz reporting that the SEC - Big East Challenge has been canceled; it won't happen next year. SEC looking to have a challenge with the Big12 instead.

It's not surprising that it is canceled for next season. I'm curious what our Basketball 7 will do with regard to these conference vs. conference 1 on 1 match-ups once we get up and running.

MWC would be a pretty good fit for us.

I say we let it die and don't join a new agreement.
STJ can have the pick of their non - conference opponents most years. Why should we be contractually bound to play South Carolina, Georgia, or the equivalent from another conference?
We could've had a good home and home series with any number of teams, instead of having to play at Kentucky last year and getting a meaningless home game against South Carolina.

Schedule a series with Ohio State again, or Duke. Whoever.

A series of this ilk and good OOC games are not mutually exclusive. In launching a new conference it can only help with awareness, exposure and brand development to set up a high profile, well televised series of this sort. Screw the MWC, go for the Pac 10. They don't have one of these things. (yes a bit selfish in hopes of a visit to Pauley or Galen)

SEC does nothing for us...no big loss

Playing Florida and Kentucky, perennial final four contenders does nothing for the conference??????

All that stuff will be on hold until our new conference is up and running. The C7 should nix any other deals now and throw a monkey wrench into anything the football schools want to do until they give us our name for a reasonable settlement. Then we can part ways and say eff-off. I agree, forget MWC. PAC-12 or somebody else would be great. Maybe I'm crazy but if it's the teams I think are going to be added, we'd eat the PAC-12's lunch head to head.

forgot about Florida...good point...wasn't too excited by rest of league...

the big loss is the big east losing its big time image. i'm with austour. the pac ten is the best way to go.

I am sure Lav would prefer the PAC also but the BE is in such a state of flux that I doubt any major conference is interested.
