All Realignment Talk Here

Actually, I don't know what religious orders run which of the new schools but I remember tasking a course in the history of the Catholic church while at McClancy HS and being told "never trust the Jesuits". I would certainly be opposed to Fordham and Boston College has already turned their back on the BE.

Creighton, Xavier, and St. Louis are Jesuit schools. So is Gonzaga. Dayton is Marinist.

Current Members of Big East: Notre Dame: Fathers of The Holy Cross, Georgetown: Jesuit, Providence: Dominican, Marquette: Jesuit, DePaul: Vincentian, Villanova: Augustinian

Have heard from very reliable sources that the so-called C7 does not want to be a mostly Catholic school conference. Think VCU is very likely to receive an invitation.

As Brother Gatian would have said, "Lord help us." Oh, well, ND is leaving, Providence and DePaul can be trusted. They have nowhere to go.

I hope what you've heard about VCU turns out to be more than a rumor although Richmond also fits the bill as a non-Catholic school. i think the non-Catholic thing is what got Wichita State's name mentioned as a possible member.

VCU? Really?
I'd be shocked if they allow in public school, no?

are you referring to Brother Gatian of McClancy?

I think they should to balance the league. You do not want all the Catholic stuff. Plus you can't trust them no?

Not saying all Catholic. Butler is a private school but not Catholic. VCU is humongous compared to the other schools. Just doesnt fit the profile of the rest of the schools. Nothing about trust.

Do not fear the Great Humongous!
Have you ever visited current Big East member school USF? THAT is humongous! Close to 45,000 students and almost 2,000 acre campus. It took me a 10 minute drive past the main gate just to get to the first building!
VCU's main campus on the other hand is actually smaller than that of St. John's but because its medical and sciences campus has so many students (not on the main campus), the student population seems "humongous".

yeah and USF after having one good year is back to their old self. Garbage.
Plus their coach is unliked in the Tampa community.

Can't say I've been to VCU campus but 24k undergrads and 6k grad students. That's big

The linked ESPN article indicates that the basketball and football television rights being offered by the non C7 members of the Big East (Yukon, SMU, Tulan, USF, UCF, powerhouse Temple and others) are worth approximately half of the broadcast rights of the C7.

The ESPN article, indicates that Fox has offered The C7 $30M to $40M Per year and that NBC has offered the leftovers $20M to $23M per year.

Wow. When you read about all these numbers in one article - uconn and cinci are really getting scorched. When you compare what they would have received if the Big East had accepted the ESPN deal vs. what they will get going forward. It must be quite a letdown for them.

Aresco has said on several occasions he wants to cut a tv deal with more than one network so the figures offered for the fb schools probably represent only a part of the final deal.

What I found interesting was the $30-40 million a year mentioned for the bb schools. I didn't see a number of years mentioned but going back a few weeks the figure mentioned was $500 million for 10 years from FOX. If the new figures are for a 10 year deal than $500 million has been reduced to the $300-400 million dollar range.

Ridiculous rumor of the day - or is it?

SJ, Georgetown, Nova, Marquette will stay in the league with the fb schools - the Big East

DePaul, Providence, Seton Hall will go to the Atlantic 10

I don't believe it but it was posted by someone saying has anyone else heard this. No source was given. I passed it along to this group to show how wild some of these stories are. Two weeks ago a story making the rounds had the Big 10 adding Notre Dame for football only and expanding on the East Coast by adding Nova, Georgetown and St. John's.

anyone who believed the 500 million dollar deal had to be chewing peyote. 300-400 million also makes no sense if you're no more than an atlantic 10 clone.
