All Realignment Talk Here

Actually, I don't know what religious orders run which of the new schools but I remember tasking a course in the history of the Catholic church while at McClancy HS and being told "never trust the Jesuits". I would certainly be opposed to Fordham and Boston College has already turned their back on the BE.

Awful but because they have a fb team they'll be pulling down $15-17 million a year from the ACC tv contract. BC isn't doing much attendance wise but the money is still coming in.

How about.................

The Atlantic East Conference

The AEC

Marquette, DePaul and Butler would disagree about the East and Atlantic.
How about the Conference Formely Known as the Big East?
Better still is my new favorite The superfragilisticexpialidocious conference!

Do the outgoing teams still have votes? The seven basketball onlys should go to Syracuse, Pitt, ND, and Louisville and tell them if they vote to pull invitations to the new schools, we will give them a discount on withdrawal fees. And once that's done, we all vote to throw UConn, Cincy, and S. Fla. out of the conference. The ACC traitors then move on with their lives and we get our rightful name.

Either that, or we just take the Conference USA name. All those piece of crap schools will eventually be playing in the Big East anyway.

BC basketball does seem to have fallen off the face of the earth since they moved to the ACC. Hope for the same with Pitt, Syracuse, ND and Louisville. I know; not likely. But I can dream can't I?

Maybe the nfl would be kind enough to let us use it their name.

No
Football
League

Someone on this board (don't remember who) suggested the Big City Conference, the BCC, still like that best.

What big clity are Villanova and Seton Hall located in?

The "new" conference will be called the Big East. It is just a question of $$$.
The name has no value to the football schools, almost all of which were not part of the original Big East basketball brand.
MSG wants no part of the "football-themed" Big East! None of the new schools will a tourney in MSG after 2015.

Philadelphia is the 6th largest city in the US, Seton Hall is outside NYC, Providence is the smallest city of the 7.

I know it is improbable but if the new league could find a way to get Gonzaga and St. Mary's from out west into the fold it would be outstanding. Is there a way to have an east/west break out? Are there other city non football schools out west that would fit the profile?

Villanova is in the burbs, isn't it? And I can probably get to Manhattan from Garden City in at least the same time it would take from Seton Hall, but no one is saying that Adelphi is a NYC school.

Nova is 16 miles from Wells Fargo Center. STJ is 13 miles from MSG.

I think of Seton Hall's city as Newark, not New York. (I cringe at the thought of SH being considered an NYC team.)

Other schools being mentioned -- Xavier, Dayton or St. Louis, and Creighton might also have issues.

Then again, in today's world Notre Dame and Louisville will be in the ACC and neither Indiana or Kentucky have borders that touch the Atlantic coast line.

Just don't see The Zags and/or The Gaels being part of the new league. Travel makes it problematic.

It's diificult to envision a league of the C7 plus Xavier, Butler, Gonzaga, SMC, and one other (Dayton, St. Louis, Creighton, VCU).

The "father's" of new league do not want the conference to be comprised of exclusively or very near exclusively Catholic schools.

The West Coast Conference (in particular San Francisco, Gonzaga, San Diego, Portland, SMC, and Santa Clara) is very similar to the C7 (particularly in their Catholic heritage).
